Kevlon Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) I've read that some people get a change in sound level when they switch views... My problem is a bit different i think, i get this very anoying changes in sound while inside the cockpit.. the sound distorted and is very annoying.. it's ruining my gaming experience. :/ .. I posted a clip of the prob on youtube ... here : something to compare with.. help is much appreciated!! Edited February 23, 2009 by Kevlon [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
JDski Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 I hear the sound cutting out. Is that the problem? The change in pitch sounds like it's just comming from the different amount of load on the rotors. That's a feature if that's what your talking about.

No, that is me pausing the game.. that clip was a bit unclear of what the problem is. I made a new video clip that shows the problem, im sitting on tarmac.. throttle set to idle and the sound start to 'glitch'.. sounds terrioble, like the soundfiles are corruped.. what might cause this problem? JDski Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I hear it changing. I know some of the same issues with sound that Lockon sufferd from seem to be in DCS as well. I still have some issues with sounds too. Especially when respawning. I'll lose my engine sounds, the gear retracting, radio voices and cockpit switch clicks. Some like the engine sound come back by doing the external view and back or by opening and closing the door, but some don't. I'm not sure what you can do to fix your problem other then trying those things. But unless it's a real show stopper for you, I wouldn't worry about it too much or go to too far of extremes to try to fix it.
glottis Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Kevlon are you running a surround-sound setup in Vista? If so, the problem might be caused by the fact that Vista won't support direct-sound properly. If you are using vista and a creative Xfi or Audigy, you can use the Creative Alchemy utility to 'fix' the problem. It seemed to clear things up for me anyway...
-Bazong- Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I get the same glitches alot of times, sounds like a phase problem, or some filter/EQ cutting in and out.. Anyway I agree it's extremely annoying, but I sorta got used to it since I had the same issue in Lock-on.. (Realtek "something soundcard" on an Asus mobo, winXP)
Slayer Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I get surround sound without using Alchemy in BS Vista x64....seems like they are using OpenAL or something instead of DirectSound. I've asked before what ED used for this game but recieved no answer... Alchemy WILL change the way it sounds though. glottis Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 It won't, but in XP it would be irrelevant anyway. I'm afraid your problem is caused by something else... :(
Frakin Toasters Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I have this problem too, also changing views seems to affect it. There is no consistent engine sound when in the cockpit for me, different things such as pausing and view changing seems to alter it. It is quite annoying, as it's hard to tell how much power you have applied to the engines at times. I have a realtek onboard soundcard, on Vista 64
Kevlon Posted March 5, 2009 Author Posted March 5, 2009 Seems like theres some kind of problem with the realtek soundcard and this game. I installed windows vista 64 to try and fix this probelm. Now the sound quality is worse than it was before. This sound is so anoying that i cant stand to play the game anymore.. a complete showstoper for me. The sound is ridiculous. It gives me a headace if i play for 30 min. any tips ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
DarkWanderer Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Just use this: http://downloads.guru3d.com/Realtek-3D-SoundBack-Beta-0.1-download-1996.html Install, add Lock On/DCS to the list, enable the program for it. Eliminates all bugs except one with loud engine sound. You want the best? Here i am...
Kevlon Posted March 5, 2009 Author Posted March 5, 2009 tryed it , still no difference . maybe i didnt enable it correctly. do i need to link it to the .exe file? or the folder it's in ? what buffer settings sould i use? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Frakin Toasters Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Yeah, should we link it to the bin\stable folder, or the Ka-50 folder?
funkee Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 (edited) DCS sound engine issue on Realtek integrated soundcards hello folks! I just registered to post about Blackshark sound issue. I got exactly the same problem on both operating systems: Vista x64 and XP x86. After pressing Esc key or switching external views, something very bad happens with engines sound, which turns loud and nasty. This is horrible issue for me and makes the game almost unplayble. The only way to partially fix this out is to switch to external view and then go back to the pit - that makes sound quieter but it still stay corrupted. My sound card is Azalia (codec Realtek ALC889A) and I had the same problem in LockOn/Flaming Cliffs, so I'm pretty sure this is not system or hardware but a GAME SOUND ENGINE PROBLEM. I really hope EA will finally fix this in the upcoming patch, together with the iffinity issue (the game should automaticaly use both CPU cores), because I bet that at least 80% DCS users own Realtek integrated soundcard on their mainboards. Now they have to play with horrible sound and half framerate. That MUST be changed after first patch release. thx for your attention and sorry for my polish english :D btw. that 3DSoundBack soft doesn't help at all, and there is no surround problem on Windows Vista.
