JACN Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 It seems we´re going to have Frogfoot for a while...time more than enough for ED to model this modernized "SM" version:D http://en.rian.ru/russia/20061228/58022799.html Cheers, A.
Pilotasso Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Its interesting to observe that a number of aircraft are going to keep flying deffying obsolescence to its limits. There will be highly anachronistic fights over the years (hope not). .

MBot Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Interesting development. Adding a new RWR, HUD and MFD to the baseline Su-25 seems like a better plan than the overweight Su-25T/TM. This upgrades keep the Su-25 good for what it is built for, while the fancy new jobs of the Su-25T/TM like SEAD, precision strike and BVR are better carried out by more capable airframes. The only thing the Su-25SM might be missing is the anti-tank capability. Plus I guess it is alot cheaper to upgrade existing Su-25 than building new Su-25T airframes.
egaRim Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Indeed an interessting development. MBot: Isn't the NATO following a different approach by using their older airframes for SEAD (e.g. F-4, F-111 or Tornado). They seem to depend rather on modern weapons than on capable platforms... But I guess Russians have decades of exellence in cost-effictiveness :D. They should know what does the job with minimum effort.
504MrWolf Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 is the MFD the same as the one ED have put in the KA50 ? Lets have it in the SU25 ! :D www.VVS504.co.uk www.lockonskins.co.uk
GGTharos Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 No, it isn't the ABRIS. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
