Mirknir Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Thanks guys, I will highlight to the ED team that this is fine on 1.2 and not on 1.5. After more tests, this is confirmed. The exact map I am using on my 1.2 server will cause the slow down in F10 map on 1.5. If I host the server on my computer, I won't have the problem but Vyrtuoz, as client, will. So it's not a 3D problem. If I host the server on a separate machine, both of us will have the problem. Reducing the number of statics will help so it's def. the number of objects and in particular statics that is the caused. I wonder if some optimizations might be missing because statics are simple and will not move, will not attack, will not do anything so just the HP seems to be needed. Thanks Mirknir My old server: The Thread
Vyrtuoz Posted December 16, 2015 Author Posted December 16, 2015 I didn’t have the time to test it, but does anyone know if the F10 view performance issue in multiplayer has been fixed? (Just as a reminded the same F10 view is smooth in DCS 1.2)
rvotri Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Woow 2017 and problem persists... No way to use the F10 on MP. Server has Fog of war and hide a lot of things... But still laggy and freezing,,, :( Who cares...
rvotri Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Funny fact is DCS uses Was using 15,5GB from my ram. After a long time of playing it always holds a lot of memory, but never reached that number before.; How people with less memory plays it???? Who cares...
xxJohnxx Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 After a long time of playing it always holds a lot of memory, but never reached that number before.; How people with less memory plays it???? RAM usage isn't working like that. If you have 16GB of RAM DCS will use up less than if you have 32GB. Textures and other stuff is loaded into the RAM when necessary, and deleted once no longer necessary or replaced when new data is loaded. However, if you have plenty of RAM the systems goes: "Well, I will hold onto that, might need it later!", therefore the more RAM you have the more usage you will see. However, if for example you have only 8GB of RAM, the system will delete files that are needed again a couple of seconds later, to create room for new stuff. Once it needs those files again it has to load them from your drive again, which is slow and causes performance issues. fitness88 Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 F10 for me is fine it's F11 that I can sometimes wait all day for it to cycle.

I know, but 4 sure, DCS would be very powerfull if game was more "controlablle", and when i say this, i mean progammatically. I'm software developer and i see... game hasn't a good handling of lot of things, there are lots of bugs, mainly on mission editor. And we never see a word from they'r developers about that. When you report something, they don't even say "OK"... No you just receive a new update hoping that the problem would be solved. Last month, editor comes with a bug that when you save a mission, it becomes unusable. Imagine a scenario where you create a huge mission, then in a blink of eye it is trashed? Lucky i managed to extract mission and edit mannually the script files inside and bring it back to life. Right now, i can't use any image to breafing, this will crash any mission i have, and i didn't even lost my time reporting it. The time ED slows down the "produtcion line" and look behind and sides and starts to optimize the DCS, then we will see a powerful simulator, but for now, the main objective is SELL SELL SELL... Or just won't work properly... I'm still curious to know how is the RAM being used in DCS, but no developer talked about it. No one even cared about making different textures options in the settings, so the ground and cockpit and model textures are all binded to one texture (ground != terrain. With ground I mean taxiways, runways and other stuff). Kinda annoying that no one cares really. I feel like DCS is just trying to load too much stuff on the RAM as to go over processing problems. It's only the textures option that really decides how much RAM will be used. I've been dealing with it quite a lot of time, changing presets (no it doesn't influence anything in the end), changing view settings (doesn't influence RAM usage either)... Yet there's people with higher settings that say to use less RAM. How is it ? Just in game DCS will take up 8 gb 700 mb now. After 1 hour about RAM usage reaches 13 GB and then tries to go higher and higher until it starts to stutter and you need to restart. I made your words mine! I just don't have the problem "stuter", not in gameplay at least, but when quit.... well it takes a lot of time... Who cares...
