Shootist Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 Cich u are a God! I am sacrificing a small shrubbery to you! As we speak! Along with having those original views, Rctrl +num0 allows me to free up joystick buttoms for better use. I know there will be a day when I too will have HOTAS and TrackIR. It's just not right now. Thanks again. Asus P8P67Pro, Intel i7, 8gb DDR3, OCZ Vertex3, 120gb SSD, GForce GTX 560, Cooler Master GX850, Win 7, Logi X 3D Pro.

Nate--IRL-- Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 (edited) Nate. That problem may be because the file SnapViews.lua (which is where the saved views are stored) does not exist in the installation. I don't know if the game is supposed to create it but in A-10 the file already existed even if you had never saved any views. See pics. These are from virgin installs, installed but never actually used. Well spotted I'll create one and see what happens. EDIT:- No joy. Shootist Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 Well, it just keeps gettin better for me folks. Turns out mapping on of my lowly X 3D Pro sticks' buttons to the snapview toggle keys has allowed my hat switch to cycle my panel views. Ya gotta love it!:smilewink: Yes, I do same, re: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=88917 I also have 18 programmable Logitech G-15 keyboard "G" keys to do same. But I do still need to hold that one button while in that snap view.
ErichVon Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 (edited) Had you modified the views, or were they just the stock set? If it was stock and you just want the views back on the numbers where they were in v1.1.1.1 then I could fix up the file for you and post it up tomorrow, along with instructions for putting it where it goes. Let me know if I can help.:) That would be nice for me, with instructions how to modify the snapview.lua . I do not know how to get into a (.lua) file or how to modify it. re: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=88917 I saw your later post, Message #17 and #20: ============================= http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=88902&page=2 I opened the downloads with Notepad ++. I see you have instructions within how to modify same in DCS_World. Also, me creating my own custom snap-views would be nice to learn how to do it. How is this done? Or, is there a tutorial on the subject? Edited May 22, 2012 by ErichVon

skepticon Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Ah well, it was only a wild guess anyway. Has anyone figured out the secret to getting custom snap views to save between missions? -My view.lua has the appropriate entries: DisableSnapViewsSaving = false UseDefaultSnapViews = false -UAC is disabled -I've edited the permissions for the View folder and all child objects so at "Everyone" has full control. -I have Launcher.exe and DCS.exe both set to run as administrator -I've created a SnapViews.lua file in the View folder where previously there was none. And yet I still cannot get my custom snap views to save between missions. Every time I start a new mission, I'm right back to the default snap views. This is driving me nuts!
cichlidfan Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 It appears to be a bug. The fix is to wait for the next beta. skepticon Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Thanks. I got around it by reinstalling standalone DCS A10c 1.1.1.1, setting my snap views there, and using the values from that SnapView.lua to overwrite the SnapViewsDefault.lua for DCS World. All good now.
