jjohnson241 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I have copied my DCS World from my C drive to an SSD (F Drive). When I run World from the SSD, autoupdater checks for updates as it would if executed from the C Drive. My question: When executed from the F Drive, where will autoupdater apply the updates, to the DCS World on C or the copy on the SSD (F drive). Is there a config file that points autoupdater to the DCS World path? I'd like the updates applied to the copy of World on the F drive (the SSD). Thanks. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 3rd Mar Div RVN '66-'67

jjohnson241 Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 I've changed the shortcut path in the start menu for "world", multiplayer and update DCS World from C to F (the SSD). I assume that's what you meant by "fix the path in the shortcut"??? Thanks. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 3rd Mar Div RVN '66-'67

jjohnson241 Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 I don't recall a property named "working" but the properties included a path and a "launch from" path. Both were pointed at "C" and I changed them to "F" (the SSd copy). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 3rd Mar Div RVN '66-'67
ED Team c0ff Posted April 30, 2013 ED Team Posted April 30, 2013 Yes. Do the shortcuts have "Working directory" property? Pardon, it's called "Start in" Dmitry S. Baikov @ Eagle Dynamics LockOn FC2 Soundtrack Remastered out NOW everywhere - https://band.link/LockOnFC2.
jjohnson241 Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 OK, I changed the "start in" path from C to F. Thanks [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 3rd Mar Div RVN '66-'67
ED Team c0ff Posted April 30, 2013 ED Team Posted April 30, 2013 Updater (and the rest of the game) figures out the install dir with a simple algorithm: 1) check if it's the current dir ("Start in" property of a shortcut) 2) search upwards from the exe dir So, if it updates the wrong copy, it selects it in one of these steps. Damien Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Here's another probably stupid question regarding the auto updater. Does the auto update also update the modules or is it just auto updating DCS world? -Damien
ED Team c0ff Posted April 30, 2013 ED Team Posted April 30, 2013 It updates the World + the official modules. Dmitry S. Baikov @ Eagle Dynamics LockOn FC2 Soundtrack Remastered out NOW everywhere - https://band.link/LockOnFC2.
jjohnson241 Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 cOff, So with the start menu shortcuts redirected to the F drive and with updater executing from the directory that's on the F drive, we should be ok and the updates should be applied to the copy on F. True? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 3rd Mar Div RVN '66-'67
