Hello everyone ...

I am part of a acrobatic team, with Ka-50, in DCSW.

We are seeking a SmokeTrail mod, for exhibitions.

After searching and searching ... and see that there is nothing, I have ideas just impossible ...

The idea would be from an engine failure (simulated), but only the smoke trail, coloring gray texture with another color.

Does anyone know if this would be possible? Part of the work is already done with the trail of smoke that occurs in engine failure.

Any idea where to start investigating?

Greetings and thanks!

I think you need to add smoke pods to the shark in its Ka-50.lua file from Scripts/Database/Helicopters/

Just look to a plane that has smoke pods on load out and then look in that planes lua file how the CLSID looks like. Then copy those entries to the Ka50 pylon(s) you want to put the pod(s) and also you need to activate smoke command (if not already active) in Shark input lua files.

Brilliant Zaelu, works perfectly, no need to activate anything in Shark input lua files.

I lack discriminate the correct CLSID, and to publish the results if he is useful to more people.

Thank you very much.

Nice.

Here is my edit... I used all smoke generators from SU-27. Attached is the corresponding Ka-50.lua. Make backup of original or restore it with game repir tool... might kick one out of public servers for load out problems.

To operate them you need to put on master arm. Select one pair of pylons (they have to be symmetrical... that means no 4 colours are working.. maximum 2 in pairs. Or... if you have more than 2 colors after one is depleted... if possible... then it might switch to the other pylon in the pair. Selecting all pylons does nothing it seems.

This is how they look:

Firing first pair (weapon release button once for fire second time for stop)

Second pair with first still firing

Very good. I have used the F-15C, are more discrete!

Make a backup:

E: \ Eagle Dynamics \ DCS World \ Scripts \ Database \ helicopters \ Ka-50.lua

Replace Ka-50.lua, for the attachment.

In the ME put your Ka-50 and select the smoke PODs.

Enjoy.

Nice job, P1KW

Could this mod be used in Ka-50 1.02?

I do not know.

If the structure of the *.lua is similar should work.

Since I have not installed BS1.02. :doh:

i dont think so

as i wrote those smoke pods not worked in previous versions in BS2/DCSW AFAIK, nor in BS1, sorry, but you should try

Thanks all of you

Tried with 1.02,the pod ID is right, pod is also loaded on Ka-50,but no smoke.

yeah, that what i thought

unfortunately BS1 has different DLL files, thats why you cant get smokes :(

if "firing" the smoke pods by selecting it and fire with master arm on doesn't work then try activate in input lua command files the "Smoke" command. Get inspired from other planes.

But why do you struggle with BS1 anyway? DCS World is free and the upgrade is quite cheap. From 3 to 3 months dirt cheap when there's a sale.

I have also tried the same method in BS1 and confirm that does not work. Oops.

Some people are remains in BS1, for reasons of performance. In my team just migrate to DCSW, are five and not all have a great PC.

Regarding DCSW, I've done more testing. I think it says Zaelu, the PODs must be symmetric, that is, you can only carry 2 different colors.

I have also found that more than one POD at a time is excessive, and In this regard I have another question. And this is more difficult to resolve.

Is it possible to modify the trail of smoke? I mean the texture.

Is too dense in the final section, on the one hand, and is too short in length, just given for a very closed loop.

Does anyone know where exactly? Is it possible to change it?

In any case, the result is fantastic, much better than nothing. But made do well, missing those two details, I comment.

The DCSW requires a more powerfull PC than the Ka-50 1.02, and some of our polits can't run the DCSW with an acceptable FPS,especially when we preform a close formation , turn all the extrenal nav lights on and begin to dispense flares.

anyway, Ka-50 1.02 is enough for aerobatic team

Right. I keep looking for ways to reduce the density of the smoke trail, and increase its length or durability.

I'll be documenting here, if I get any progress.

For now I found this. To reduce the impact on performance. Mainly in the trails of smoke and dust of the ground, but do not seem to affect too.

Greetings!

Edit:

I have also found several config. I'm at work and I can not do tests ...

E:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\Effects\SmokeTail\Medium\smokeSmallRocket.cfg There are several, I put this as an example:

COLOR					 = {180,180,180,255};
SCALE_TEXTURE				 = 0.3;
SHARPEN					 = true;
MAX_WIDTH				 = 2;
MIN_LENGTH_SHARPEN			 = 2;
MAX_LENGTH_SHARPEN			 = 10;
TIME_GROWING				 = 0.8;
VELOSITY_SCALING			 = 3;
ACCELERATE_SCALING			 = -1;
DECAY_TIME				 = 10;
SCALE_START_WIDTH			 = 5;
FIRE					 = false;
SECOND_TEXTURE_FOR_SHARPEN		 = true;
FIRST_TEXTURE				 = "smoketail.tga";
SECOND_TEXTURE				 = "TrailRocket.tga";

The method, trial and error, it will be hard ... Any idea?

edit:

Test all configs in E:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\Effects\SmokeTail\ without effect.
