Lib Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Hi everybody, in a post of Evilbivol-1 (here) we can read : "The ARK-22 ADF can also be slaved to the R-800L1 VHF radio. In this case, the RMI needle on the HSI is directed toward the transmitter on the frequency currently selected for the R-800L1 radio. For example, the flight leader can maintain bearing to his wingman when the wingman is transmitting a radio call." My purpose (in a mission) is to localize a crashed Huey transmitting on a FM frequency, and quickly join it with my KA-50 to protect its crew while others Hueys come to save it. But I don't succed (find how) to make the ARK-22 be slaved to the R-800L1 and i don't succed to make the RMI on the HSI pointing "toward the transmitter on the frequency currently selected for the R-800L1 radio". I read the manual but i can't find any explanation on the way to do it. Can anybody help me please ? What switch must i check to make it working ? In advance, thanks for your help !
-MadCat- Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Hey Lib ! On the left panel above the frequency dials and indications, place the bottom middle switch in the up-position. That will connect the HSI RMI needle to the R-800L1 radio. Check the manual page 6-100 (pdf: 174), that should work out your problem. But I should mention I didn't try that myself yet, so am just quoting the manual. Greetings MadCat Link -> Stateful button commands for many DCS modules
JG14_Smil Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 (edited) I believe we lost that feature somewhere along the line... Welcome to the Club, Lib! The more you learn about BS, the more your heart will break when you compare it to the manual. Edited June 11, 2013 by JG14_Smil
bumfire Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I believe we lost that feature somewhere along the line... Welcome to the Club, Lib! The more you learn about BS, the more your heart will break when you compare it to the manual. Its the same with all the modules, the manuals and the modules can be slightly or crazy wrong at times. Things get added to the modules, things get taken away and what we have left is a hybrid of sorts that nobody knows how to fully figure out. Maybe one day we will have a manual that has correct instructions and a sim that follows those instructions.

Damn don't say that lol my heart shook even if it might be true lol. :megalol: :joystick: YouTube :pilotfly: TimeKilla on Flight Sims over at YouTube.
Griffin Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I can confirm this feature working in the latest version. It does show the direction of ATC, wingmen and other flights. It doesn't work on ABRIS though and I guess it's not supposed to.
gunterlund21 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 shouldnt the abris hsi match the analog one? I was in Art of the Kill D#@ it!!!!
Griffin Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I'm just studying the system and yes it should. I'll try to report a bug. The rotation of the directional pattern is transmitted electrically and rotates the RMI needle of the HSI and the ABRIS HSI (RADIO caret) to indicate the current NDB bearing.
Lib Posted June 12, 2013 Author Posted June 12, 2013 ho ! so it still works with HSI ? Thanks for your answers every body, i can try this evening, so i will ! Griffin, can you confirm what MadCat said ? On the left panel above the frequency dials and indications, place the bottom middle switch in the up-position. That will connect the HSI RMI needle to the R-800L1 radio. As that switch in the up-position by default, it meens all i have to do is just entering the frequency number, or is there anything else to do ? Many thanks.
Griffin Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 That switch is down by default. Check again manual page 6-100 and the number 4 item on the picture and it's description. That's the only switch that's needed for the ADF needle to point to the transmitter providing the frequency is correct.
Lib Posted June 12, 2013 Author Posted June 12, 2013 That switch is down by default. Oups ! my mistake ! :) Thank you very much !
JG14_Smil Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 I noticed that the R-800 ADF function worked for me online with the STP server that is hosting the radio "classics" channel, but it pointed to an area with nothing there. The radio tower was a few KM away. I wonder if this was due to trigger placement or coordinates error.
