il_corleone Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 (edited) Hello everybody. First of all I do not know if this goes here, but it concerns all aircraft. Here is my original post on the Mirage part http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=155281 I was hyped about the Mirage, so I made a chart with the Aim-7M and the R-27R to found some behaviours. Conditions: Day, 1 June 12:00:00 PM Summer 20º Degrees 760 QNH Both aircraft 800km/h (True Speed) 2000m HEAD ON Offline Ver 1.5.2 Enemy Skill: High Individual launch per experiment Target Mig29A Planes: Aim7 F15C R-27R Mig29G H/R: Hit Ratio K/R: Kill Ratio F/T: Flight time of hit missiles/ Flight time of missed missiles Red: 30km Notes Yellow: 8-15km Notes Ai always turns at 17-15 km. But stars shooting flares before, like being prepared to evade the missile Ai always knows where is the missile Ai always knows what kind of missile is shooting agasint them, (not same turns with Aim-7M than with R-27R) Chaff looks less effective at that distance Reaquiring the target also looks more common, it happened 4 or 5 times, the missile adquires chaff, 1s later gets the target again Some missiles are "lured" at the mark of 10km to 5 km * The 95% percent of the missiles were wasted by chaff * One Aim7 was out of energy at 15km mark *At 7km-5km the chaff affected the missiles and the 100% was wasted (russian) 95% (Americans) * At 8km I don`t know if the chaff affected so bad to the missiles but I think it also did, closer, but it did *The Mig29 was triying to outmaneuver the missile by the moment of launch, making a sharp turn to the left and lowering his alttitude, al while launching chaff I noticed the amazing fact that at the mark of 8km, ONLY 8, just 50% of the missiles made it to the target, while the others were wasted by chaff, at the 7km mark, most of them, turned his head against the chaff that the Mig dropped. Missiles seems to be accurate or semi accurate by the fact that Zeus has given us, the Aim-7 was not very realiable thing and the R-27 has yet to have a recorded kill. I hope this help people to understand Ai evading missiles or to fix it if they are doing something wrong, looks like the AI keeps cheating since LockOn Thanks for reading! and sorry for my English as always! Fri13 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Yes, the AI cheats so much that it is laughable. Try to sneak with Mig-21Bis a bomber and on the millisecond you release a missile, bomber starts releasing flares/chaff as knowing is it IR or SARH. And then does the turns as knowing where you are etc. It is annoying that you can't sneak behind target and fire R-60 at enemy when they know everything. And it was discussed in another thread about the chaff behavior, like it is a flare but just for radar missiles, instead chaff being as it should be, blocking the radar seeing trough and transmitting a stromer(bigger) radar reflection when radar is painting it and chaff becomes close of the SARH/ARH missile radar field of view. Yet we need to wait ED missile WIP results.... i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
Vectury Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Those are some interesting findings Corleone! We all knew the Ai cheated, but I didn't expect the head-on hit ratio to be that bad at such short distance. theGozr Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Great because Ithink we all need some kind of chart with all the name and what are they for.. Flying an aircraft is ok but knowing what to use is an other matter I'm real bad on weapons.. Thank you :) Fly it like you stole it..
Aginor Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Interesting chart, thank you! DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
ShuRugal Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 I would be interested to see how ARH missiles currently perform in comparison.
Breakshot Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 It is a known fact that SARH missiles are completely porked due to ground/sky clutter and chaff over modeling since a couple patches ago. You can look it up on the bug report threads in the general section. The big question is though, is ED planning to do anything about that...? Exorcet Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Nice job. I've done some of these in the past, but have focused on the more popular missiles. One issue I had with maneuvering AI is keeping them consistent. With the new maneuver AI actions, this should no longer be a problem. Have you considered doing tests using this feature? I plan to play around with it when I get back to my DCS computer.
