OK, so most of the time, I don't have major issues with the radar. However, in this specific mission where I have enemy aircraft that I can spawn for WVR combat, consistently I cannot get the enemy aircraft to show on radar after spawning them. It happens almost every time.

I can have the enemy aircraft well within the detection envelope (elevation set to his altitude, 2 or 4 bar, 60-80* scan), and he never shows up. Ever. Specifically, with this mission, which is the weird thing.

Track file is attached, there are several dogfights in here, but it's most apparent in the very first one, where I cannot detect him. In the rest, I use ACM modes (which have no issues).

Can someone advise what I'm doing wrong, if this is the case? Or perhaps there's a bug that only manifests itself in this set of conditions (enemy A/C spawned within 20miles, aircraft location, something?)

Can't check the track but try changing the PRF to HI and see if that makes them appear.

Tried all that, med/hi/intl, nothing.

Was there an issue with the track?

I had the same issue yesterday on the OGN ITT server. I had shot down an SU27 previously then got more contacts so flew towards a Mig21 which was the closest....at no time did it appear on radar. Hell I even had AWACS basically doing a GCI for me right up to 9nm when i shot him down with an AIM120C (active mode).

have a look at the attached image. You can clearly see my radar has zero contacts whilst AWACs is telling me the Mig is right in front of me. I tried recycling everything but got nothing.

after shooting down the mig I took on two further mig 23s with the same result (ended up shooting 1 down with active mode but got killed by the other).

Interesting. Perhaps there is a bug with the radar at close ranges against a spawned target.

I’m not thrilled that this was moved out of the bugs section, as I do believe there is a bug here somewhere. Maybe my title wasn’t that specific.

I may have figured this one out.

On airstart, the radar starts in a weird mode. The sweep is going back and forth, but the option for PRF is not there, and it seems unable to detect anything.

One needs to switch modes a couple times (to AIM-9, AIM-120, etc) then turn off A/A mode, and suddenly the options are available - and it starts to detect targets.

I think I never noticed it in this mission because things happen so quickly when you spawn the enemy MIG within 10miles.

So, I think there is a bug somewhere in the radar when the aircraft is first air started.

I agree. At the start of a mission my radar is working. Then, when I go to refuel later on, even after turning the radar on and off, resetting, and with the tanker in front of me, the radar shows nothing.

This has been consistent for the last two weeks (I’m flying 2.5.2) in every mission I fly.

I'm having this problem with a created mission as well. Spawned him in an orbit over a tgt with no weapons. Startup is on ramp, cold and dark.

I thought maybe I wasn't letting the radar warm up long enough in Standby mode, but it looks likeothers are having a similar issue. I can lock him up in ACM fine.

Yeah, you have to switch modes once or twice after airstarting (switch to AIM120, AIM9 then back), then it works fine.

Seems to happen less since the last open beta update though.
