Hello,

I just bought the boxed version of DCS BS. I've installed it on Windows 7 7068.

The installation works perfectly. When i launch BS (run as administrator), works too, except a bad flickering while rolling over the buttons in fullscreen mode.

But, when i launch the game (for exemple "Instant action"), here are starting the troubles... :( The time to be in the cockpit is about 8 minutes. This seems quite a long time. After that infinite loading time of the 3D game engine, everything works nice (except some little freezes from time to time).

I tried of course to defrag my disk, update to latest nvidia drivers (179.85). It seems that nvidia doesn't pay a great attention on the notebook graphic drivers. For the moment, there are no newer drivers for my 8700M GT.

First question : Is the loading time normal ?

Second question : If not, why and how to fix it ?

Thanks for help ! Great game !

My system configuration :

Core2 duo E7500 - Windows 7 7068 - 4Gb ram

Nvidia 8700M GT

No it's not normal. Have you installed motherboard chipset, sata, etc. drivers from your laptop webpage?

AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2

No i didn't.

In fact, since other games are working perfectly, (LockOn FC for exemple), I thought it wouldn't be necessary. But you're right Distiller, i'm gonna try to update the motherboard chipset drivers if i can find it.

The Vista drivers that came with my notebook refuse to install since it's not recongized as Vista os.

Nope.

Sorry, there are no newer drivers available.

The Vista drivers refuse to install (it does not recognize the proper os). It seems i'm in a dead end until newer drivers if there is... Nevertheless, i'm not sure that the problem come from my chipset drivers.

After a format and a new fresh windows 7 install...and 2 activations burnt indeed, stil not working.

I think Windows 7 is not as good as it seems... or is it BS ?

I'm going to say again that it's most probably your motherboard drivers or something more fishy. Perhaps the lack of hard disk controller driver is making BS perform this way. W7+Blackshark combo usually works perfect.

Try to use Vista, with SP1 it's a ver good OS.

I use Windows 7 too, and i must say that from power on to logging in to opening DCS and going into Instant Action probably takes about 5mins.

So its definatly not Windows 7.

There is a new driver from nVidia specifically for Windows 7 here http://www.nvidia.com/object/windows_7.html

that should work.

I've just built myself a new rig and there are no drivers around for any of my hardware for windows7 apart from that one.

Are you running the sim of the DVD or is it running from HDD? Is the disk in at any point?

Anti-virus settings? does it allow programmes to access files without your AV scanning each item, try disconnecting from the net, and disabling your AV and take anyhting that may be in your DVD Drive out.

these may help.

i'am on windows 7 build 7068

launching a mission require max 30s from main menu to cockpit

not a windows 7 issue

did you disabled your antivirus ?

Posted

Yes, i've deactivated my antivirus. In fact, as i suspected a problem from the antivirus, i've uninstalled it.

Unfortunetly no difference. I've made a new fresh install with no other softs installed. No DVD in the DVD drive, same loading time.

I can believe easily Windows 7 is not involved since many people doesn't have any problem. I tried to install the latest nvidia windows 7 drivers (thanks Jonay) BUT... i don't know why, nvidia doesn't make the latest drivers available to laptop (8700M GT is not available in the product list)... I know, a laptop isn't the best choice for gaming.

Nevertheless, i found a website http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ that modify the drivers from nvidia to make it available to laptop users. BUT, it seems i'm not lucky : blue screen.

So, I think, i'm gonna return to a more conventional os... too bad, Lock on was much faster with windows 7.

Thanks for help.

Hi,

I've done a fresh install of Windows Vista x64 sp1...

Same problem, about 8 minutes to load the 3D ! i'm doomed. It seems my problem is due either to hardware, either to DCS.

For the hardware, i've of course installed all the latest drivers possible (much more easier with Vista). I tried to install some other games and i have no such problem at all with them.

I've installed Lock on Flaming Cliffs, updated the starforce driver: it works very well, and the loading time has never been so low and the fps never so high.

So, after burning 4 activations while attempting to play DCS without waiting 10 minutes between each missions (or crashs), it seems that i have no more solution : the game won't run better on my configuration. Why ? i d'ont know, but i'm pretty sure, it's a dcs problem (if not, why is the problem is only seen with this game ?). I'm quite disapointed and desperated. I do not intend to change my computer just to play bs...

So, for the dev team, here is my configuration, in case it has any interest for you :
