Turbo gear usage

Just reading through the (brilliant) hard-copy manual and it mentions how to utilise the turbo gear which I know is used to provide generator power etc. but I'm wondering what sort of checks can be carried out with the turbo-gear running, and how to achieve them i.e. what is the checklist to follow with the turbo gear running?

jester,its used by the ground crew to crank the engs with out turning them over...test would be powerplant,rotor,linkage and or elec..things like tht..5x5

No. The turbo gear allows you to use bleed air from the APU to run an accessory gearbox. Attached the accessory gearbox are the two AC generators and the two hydraulic pumps. Using the turbo gear gives you electrical power and hydraulics, that's all. You can't run the rotor, test the engines, or anything like that, although you can test the flight controls since you have hydraulic pressure. Normally, none of this would be necessary, because all airfields would have ground power units for both electrical power and hydraulics. The turbo gear is only necessary for off-airfield condifiotns where you need to do certain maintenance checks but don't have any ground power vehicles available for electrical power or hydraulics.
