dburne Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Hey gang, I have noticed while the chopper is running, if I go to external view ( F2), and then return to in cockpit view ( F1), I seem to be missing some of the engine sound. I say engine sound, not sure if that is the right terminology - it is a very distinct fairly high pitched sound I hear when everything is running. But if I switch to external and then back to internal, that particular sound is gone. Only way I have found to get it back is to pause the sim and then unpause it - then the in cockpit sound is back to normal. Anyone else notice this or is it just me? slug88 Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 The sound you get when you switch back into the cockpit is actually the normal sound. The high pitched engine sound should only be audible when the cockpit door is open or when you're outside of the chopper. Inside things should be fairly muted. This is a known bug, and probably won't be fixed for this iteration of DCS. We just have to live with toggling outside views/toggling the cockpit door in order to get the proper in-cockpit sound for now. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
dburne Posted September 13, 2009 Author Posted September 13, 2009 Allright then I learn something new every day - thank you very much! When starting I will just toggle to external view then back to internal to represent the proper sound. martinistripes Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Yeah, the sound you've been thinking is normal annoys me greatly. When you hear the loud sound, you're flying without ear defence. It's the first thing I'd choose to have fixed but for some reason it wasn't a priority with 1.01. And use the flipping search function! ...haha, just kidding. Always wanted to say that. -Nighthawk- Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Yeah it's my most hated bug at the moment, I ALWAYS have to switch to outside then inside view to remove the noise :\ That and the line outside the cockpit is still visible, a bug from 10 years ago....
connos Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 I fixed this in my system but not running BS as Admin and installing latest OpenAL and also enable the GX2 mode in my Asus sound card. If I do all the above sound in cockpit is normal. How do you know it's a bug that is easy to fix? Maybe it still is priority, but it could not be fixed in the limited time and/or by a simple patch, because it needs larger changes to the soundengine? :smilewink: MSI X670E Gaming Plus | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 64 GB DDR4 | AMD RX 6900 XT | LG 55" @ 4K | Cougar 1000 W | CreativeX G6 | TIR5 | CH HOTAS (with BU0836X-12 Bit) + Crosswind Pedals | Win11 64 HP | StreamDeck XL | 3x TM MFD
