Thought I'd share my set up with ya'll.

60 in plasma TV for a monitor hooked up into my 5.1 stereo. Wireless keyboard and mouse so I can sit back. Notice the track IR is mounted on a tri-pod to the left since I have to sit so far back. Computer is a 2.88 quad core, windows 7.

One sweet ride.

Nice showoff though I rather would have this: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3D_Vision_Main.html

nothing special, just stereoscopic glases. I had ELSA stereoscopic glases a time ago, i tell you it's just waste of money. The first time its cool, but then you start recognise that you get pain in your eyes and then in head.

it's your deal, but i suggest you one thing - save that money for something else. :smilewink:

You get pain in the eyes/head because the frames were not optimal.

Nowdays you have "3D" screens with 120hz, so 60hz for each eye.....the same as most LCD screens have these days.

The glasses which come with the Nvidea package are also much more comfortable then these ELSA glasses.

hehe, i used them (ELSA) with a CRT monitor @120Hz. But as i said before, it's your deal mate :)

Although 3D isn't new, it is going to be "the next big thing".

I have read though, that if the vision of one of your eyes is less than the other it can give headaches as well (just a note). And the eyes certainly must get used to it.

Also coming on the market, 3D TVs with which you don't need glasses at all as tiny lenses in the screen give the 3D illusion :)

Looks awesome, I like my big desk and 3d headphones but I'd really like a massive monitor.

What resolution do you run on that screen? Do you need SLI graphics cards to handle the res?

As with any LCD or Plasma, it's best to use the TV's native resolution. For my plasma it's 1920x1080.

I'm not using SLI but have one Nvidia GTX 285 with 1 GB memory. I've got all the in-game graphic options set as high as they will go and notice only slight slowdowns when flying over huge cities with lots of smoke and burning tanks, etc.

Sounds good, that resolution is fine then. Same as I have now on 22" monitor.

I've got a GTX 295 with all settings, except for water. Setting water = 0 doubled my framerate.

I just got the nvidia system tools yesterday and overclocked my card as well.

Where do you get the nvidia systems tool? Is it safe/easy to overclock the card and does it buy you much in frame rate?

Regarding is it safe, it would never be 100% safe I guess.

However default the fan is only at 40%, so in theory if you crank that up you should keep your card at the same temp.

You can get the tool here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_system_tools_6.03.html

It installs 3 apps, open the performance app.

I initially followed this guide: http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=620&pgno=1

But the fan at 100% is WAY too loud for me. I settled for 60% fan.

Because I'm far too lazy to do all the testing little by little that they recommend, I just took their stable figures, and reduced them a little and I figured that would be safe for me.

I have played black shark stable for 5 hours straight on full 1920x1080 without any glitches or crashes.

The important part - make sure you setup profiles to launch the overclock when you open your game, and close it when the game closes. Otherwise you need to create one to start overclock when windows starts as it's not automatic.

Also make sure your power supply has > 30amps on the 12v or you might get reboots as the power draw increases.

In that point i agree with you. That "big next thing" will come for sure, but not with the "3D glasses on"-technology. Maybe the coming 3D-TV's/Monitors will do the race, but on the glasses i'm very sceptic :)

For users of Gainward there is an tool named "Expert tool". With it you can o/c as well as set the fan speed (factory setting is 60%).

And for all the others (and maybe not only them) take a look at http://www.guru3d.com/ there you will find every tool/driver you want for your grafic hardware ;)
