Crescendo Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) Hi all, As an Australian, I would like to see an A-10, F-15, F-16, F-22 (et al) in person at least once before I die. Static displays are okay, but naturally I would prefer to see them in action. My question is this: Are there any recommendations for the 'best' airshow, tour, or other event to attend? It can be a major international airshow, a small domestic event at an airbase, a military exercise (I'm thinking of Red Flag etc), literally whatever, as long as it involves these aircraft. I am willing to travel internationally and spend many thousands of dollars to do this, and the time-frame is not an issue (it could be in 2020 for all I care). I'm looking for something that satisfies as much of my criteria as possible, and I'm hoping to draw upon the real-life experiences of you all to do it. I can easily obtain lists of the various airshows on my own, so what I'm really after is a 'vote of confidence', i.e. "I've been to this airshow/event and it was great!" Thank you. Nealius Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I think the NAS Oceana airshow would be one of the best, but US military aircraft have been out of airshows for a while after the "budget cuts." I don't know when they will be back and I honestly haven't checked.

The T-birds and Blue Angels are back in business and I've seen a couple flyovers. 4c Hajduk Veljko Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Barksdale use to be very god air show. Great static display, F 22, F-117, Blue Angels, Thunderbirds ... you name it. Last year air show was canceled due to sequester budget cuts. This year, I don't know if it will happen. There is nothing on Braksdale web site about the show http://www.barksdale.af.mil/ Yet, Thunderburds are scheduled to fly at Barksdale on April 26-27. http://afthunderbirds.com/site/show-season/ Thermaltake Kandalf LCS | Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R | Etasis ET750 (850W Max) | i7-920 OC to 4.0 GHz | Gigabyte HD5850 | OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3 2000 | 2 X 30GB OCZ Vertex SSD in RAID 0 | ASUS VW266H 25.5" | LG Blue Ray 10X burner | TIR 5 | Saitek X-52 Pro | Logitech G930 | Saitek Pro flight rudder pedals | Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
