F99th-Cooper Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I installed asrock z87 extreme 4 motherboard, after my gigabyte mobo died. I cannot get the x52 pro drivers to install. it stalls at the install wizard and crashes. the stick works fine, so it is not the x52 pro. I have the bios and windows 7 all updated along with my NVidia gtx 760 drivers. Called tech support at madcatz, they were not much help, they sent the ticket to "headquarters" what ever that means. other people have not had the problem with the same mobo. I cannot afford to buy a new hotas after replacing the board, any ideas? thanks Asrock Z87 Extreme 4, I5 4670K 4.10 GHZ, 550LC Watercooler, , EVGA NVIDA GTX 980ti, Corsair 500 GB SSD, 16 GB 2133 Ram. HiJack Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 What driver versions are you trying? There are several different versions awailable online if you search for them. I use an old one that supports command names longer than 30 characters. The new versions make X52 stop working if you create a command with a long name. Do some search and I'll look up the versions I have in the mean time.
HiJack Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 In Saitek control panel about: Driver version : 6.2.2.4 Software version : 9.9.9.9 File names: Driver: Saitek_X52Pro_Flight_Controller_SD6_64.exe SST: SST_Software_64_6_6_6_9.exe These works fine in Windows 7 64 bit and are compatible with a lot of the profiles laying around on all sorts of Flightsim forums.
F99th-Cooper Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 so far I cannot find that driver or software version Asrock Z87 Extreme 4, I5 4670K 4.10 GHZ, 550LC Watercooler, , EVGA NVIDA GTX 980ti, Corsair 500 GB SSD, 16 GB 2133 Ram. Tone71 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) I recently installed 7.0.something on my computer (Windows 7 x64) and it worked okay. I'll check the version when I'm at my computer. Did you run the installer and then plug your controller in at the prompt? Did it freeze or just crash? Edited February 18, 2014 by Tone71 Predictive text... F99th-Cooper Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 yes I plug it in when prompt, then it crashes, sometimes the throttle and mfd lights come on and then go out, I installed it on my laptop to test it and it works fine. going to replace the 6 pin connector cord to see if it helps. Blooze Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Try going HERE and purging everything that is Saitek to rule out any corrupt files. Then try the process again. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
txmtb Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Check the USB port you are using and make sure it's a USB 2 and not 3 port. I have had similar issues when trying to install on a USB 3 port. F99th-Cooper Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 Fixed....It was the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller driver. This is what I did to fix it. Uninstallation of the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller driver through the Device Manager is not a supported method and it's not validated. Do not uninstall the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller driver through the Device Manager. Select Start, then select Control Panel. Make sure "View by Category" is selected, and select Uninstall a program. Select Organize, select Layout, then select Details Pane. The Details Pane will be shown at the bottom of screen. Select Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver, and select Uninstall or Uninstall/Change. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete uninstallation and restart the computer. txmtb Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 That would explain why I had the issues with it plugged into the USB 3 port, have the same controller. Which is also why I had to use a USB 2 port I suppose.
