Worther_1 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Hi, I'm new to FC3, and I've spent my time flying F-15C and been enjoying it, although I'm having trouble using ILS landing data. I can change to ILS mode but I'm having trouble determining the correct ILS NAV data for the airport I need to land at, it appears that you can scroll through different landing sites with CTRL + ~ So can anyone please help me to select the correct runway? Thanks in advance, Worther_1 Worther_1 DCS Black Shark 2, A10-C, Huey, MiG-21bis, Hawk, Flaming Cliffs 3, F/A-18, Nevada Terrain.
HiJack Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 This is a list that may help you. All the airfields come in the same order. The ID is the same as airport number in the Russian aircrafts.
Worther_1 Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Thanks HiJack, that's exactly what I was looking for...should make things a bit easier! Worther_1 DCS Black Shark 2, A10-C, Huey, MiG-21bis, Hawk, Flaming Cliffs 3, F/A-18, Nevada Terrain.
Robin_Hood Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Also, this might help Actually, as I was unsure of the previous lists I had, I just made a new one, with the F-15C. Note that sometimes, the HSI is in-between courses. In those cases, I have noted it as for exemple, 236-235 (course between 235 and 236). Also, I added, between parenthesis, the heading given by the F10 map for each airport. It is usually slightly less than that from the HSI, and sometimes the reverse, as it seems to indicate take-off heading instead of landing heading (some airports have landings and take-offs done in opposite direction (eg. Sochi, the airplanes always fly over the sea, taking-off or landing). Anyway, here it is: Anapa: 041-042 (041) Batumi: 125-126 (125) Beslan: 093-094 (93) Gelendzhik: 040 (39) Gudauta: 331 (331) Kobuleti: 070 (70) Krasnodar Center: 267 (267) Krasnodar Pachkovsky: 047 (47) Krymsk: 219-220 (219) Kutaisi: 074 (74) Maykop: 219 (218 ) Mineralne Vody: 295-296 (295) Mozdok: 083 (82) Nalchik: 235-236 (55) Novorossiysk: 042 (42) Senakhi: 095 (094) Sochi: 062 (242) Soganlug: 132-133 (132) Sukhumi: 296-297 (296) Tbilisi: 308 (307) Vaziani: 135-136 (135) Hope it helps 2nd French Fighter Squadron

Worther_1 Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 I've just had a quick flight in F-15C to check out info supplied above, the problem I have is that when I select the ILS mode on HUD the only info I can see is the distance/time to airport, using the list above as a reference how do I know which airport is which? I've looked round the cockpit but I can't see any reference to the airport, except using the distance/bearing as a rough guide...surely there's a more accurate way of doing this? Apologies in advance if I'm missing something obvious. Wortner_1 Worther_1 DCS Black Shark 2, A10-C, Huey, MiG-21bis, Hawk, Flaming Cliffs 3, F/A-18, Nevada Terrain.
104th_Maverick Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 The short answer is you have to know your map sir.... If you are unsure of what ILS you have tuned in you can always use your F10 map. If the HUD says the airfield is 090 for 60 miles... press F10 and look at what airfield is 60 miles to your east etc. Best thing to do in the meantime to pratice is to make a mission in the mission editor with just one F-15C set to Takeoff from Ramp at what ever airfield you'd like. Depart from this field and head back in on the ILS... the airfield you took off from will be your WP0 and when you engage ILS it should already have this ILS freq tuned to the correct airfield. I made a vid a while back... not exactly relevant to what your experiencing but I hope it helps! HiJack Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Yes it's tricky in the F-15 as the cockpit is now with most of the navigation features disabled. The easy way, if I can call it that, is to bring up the airport list menu and report "incoming" to the topmost airport (that should be the closest one) and then you will receive heading and distance to fly. Then you change HUD to ILS mode and switch waypoint/airfield to you see the numbers you got from ATC matches. Practice makes perfect :) EDIT: A good flight is doing ILS and touch and go on all airports in one large trip around the map :D
Worther_1 Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 Thanks again chaps I appreciate it, I think to practice I'll set a solo mission up as Maverick suggested. I have to although I've had this issue I'm enjoying flaming cliffs 3, and I've only flied the F-15 so far...looking forward to the challenge of carrier landings! 104th_Maverick Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Here is a little one for you to try if your not familiar with the Mission editor. Drop this mission into C:\Users\YOURNAME\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Missions One F-15C Cold and Dark at Kutaisi. Takeoff and fly to WP1 then turn around and intercept the ILS for the active at Kutaisi. Any questions feel free to ask!ILS_Training.miz [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 104th Phoenix Wing Commander / Total Poser / Elitist / Hero / Chad www.104thPhoenix.com www.facebook.com/104thPhoenix My YouTube Channel
