Dr Zaius Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Title says it all really, i've been busy making me new PC & can't wait to see how FC looks, installed lo-mac & FC then tried the 1.12 patch but it didn't want to install it and the process ceased...should have double checked this but was so excited building my new X64 bit system i forgot to check for combatability issues...are there any & how to fix pls...thnx for your time System Specs: Intel Core i9-9900K 3.6GHz @ 4.8GHz, Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master, 32 GB G.Skill Trident Z DDR4-3600 RAM, GeForce GTX 4090, Crucial SSD (2TB), TrackIR 5, TM Throttle, VPC WarBRD Stick, TM T-Flight Rudder Pedals, Samsung 49” Odyssey G9
Prophet_169th Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I havent patched my install on XP64 to 1.12. But 1.11 worked fine, actually worked much better. I have yet to get a memory read error that is common in XP32
dynamocl Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 I have had my 64 bit system for almost 6 months, and I have not seen any incompatability with any software at all, and I use quite a bit. I beleive it is safe to say, any 32 bit application will be compatible with a 64 bit chip - I beleive AMD did a lost of work to ensure the "backwards" compatability was robust. On a seperate not, why not wait a bit and go for a duel core 64 in a few months when the price has dropped a lot - thats what I am doing (I assume you have brought a motherboard with future upgrades in mind)
Dr Zaius Posted February 18, 2006 Author Posted February 18, 2006 thanks fo the input, question still stands though...anyone out there installed FC 1.12 patch on a x65 o/s??in answer to future upgrades my m/b is a dfi lanparty nf4 sli expert, cpu's an amd athlon X2 4400+ System Specs: Intel Core i9-9900K 3.6GHz @ 4.8GHz, Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master, 32 GB G.Skill Trident Z DDR4-3600 RAM, GeForce GTX 4090, Crucial SSD (2TB), TrackIR 5, TM Throttle, VPC WarBRD Stick, TM T-Flight Rudder Pedals, Samsung 49” Odyssey G9
dynamocl Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 64 Bit chip or 64 bit OS... these are different, and you seem to have changed the question. Either way, AMD x64 chip will run 1.12, don't be so paranoid.
Force_Feedback Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Interesting, I still run a 32bit OS, I guess there would be no performance gain when switching to a 64bit OS, as lomac is 32 bit, so the OS should run it in 32bit mode either way. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:

Correct. A 64-bit chip will run a 32-bit application just fine, but it won't run it in 64-bit so there will be no gains purely through the chip being 64-bit. You might gain a sliver of performance if you run a 64-bit OS, in that the background processes are being chomped through faster . . . . but that's academic. I believe Starforce and FC are now both compatible with 64-bit OSes, so all should be well. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
