I'm interested in hearing he experience from those of you that have had to go through TM for warranty service.

I recently had a stuck China hat and also a shorting button behind the joystick latch. TM quoted me a price of $110 USD to send me replacement buttons. I was shocked at this since that is 25% the price of the whole unit. I'm a little bit annoyed to need replacement parts as the unit hasn't been used that much (only 2 yrs old). In reality,it has seen very light usage over the past 12 months. Even after getting replacement parts, I still have to do the work of actually installing the new buttons, so $110 doesn't even get me a fully working unit.

Is this their normal pricing to to repair/replace something as simple as a couple of buttons ?

I'm not too impressed with all of this as I will be very very upset if I have to shell out another $100 anytime soon. I'm actually debating putting my unit up for sale as it is starting to seem like a bit of a liability when it comes to repair. Particularly given the limited usage that it has seen.

IIRC A China Hat and Slew switch was $120.00 but a portion of that was the cost of shipping. Sorry can't remember the amount.

That does not surprise me. If the parts are only warehoused in France then shipping to the US is steep. I recently asked about getting a set of 4 springs from them (the small ones in the stick) and they quoted me $40 including shipping (only stocked in France), but did not offer a breakdown of the price.

If they are using FedEx, DHL or some other expedited service then I can understand the cost. Shipping would end up being about 40% of the cost. There are cheaper alternatives such as regular mail which would be a lot cheaper but a little bit slower.

My parts came from France as well, but I thought that TM were doing some of their warranty stuff through Canada just to cut down on the logistical costs.

I just don't believe replacement parts should cost this much.

OK. So my parts came a few days ago, and the customs forms show a declared value of 20 euro for both parts. So perhaps their shipping costs are a lot more than I estimated.

I am going to ask TM Support for breakdown on the costs and also if other cheaper shipping alternatives are available. At which point I'll decide if to keep the HOTAS.
