Close Combat alternative

Does anyone know of any modern alternatives to the Close Combat Series?

 

I have the Wargame series but I was looking for something the next layer down. 3dish 3rd person or top down.

 

I have the Company of Heroes games but they are a too resource based and not really tactical sqad based but I do like the mortars and fire support etc.

 

I would say that CoH is closest to what I am after but perhaps with a larger map and resources like Close Combat rather than zone capture.

 

Wondering if there is anything in development?

Hi Mr. Burns, I too have always enjoyed Close Combat series so I have been keeping an eye on any news on this software....Matrix is re-designing the Close Combat game engine but keeping real to the same game feel. They say it will be released this year. A mention of Close Combat : Bloody First can be found here about a third of the way down the page:

Men of War series might be something for you. Also might want to check out Combat Mission and Theatre of War series.

Oh yes - loved that game.

 

Wargame is getting pretty close, IMHO - but not a real substitute.

 

 

I also enjoyed World in Conflict a lot.
