Maximus_Lazarus Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Bastard bleeds and outturned both my missiles with 2 turns, close range, while keeping me locked 3qwlwKWIajk Just wanted to show this, as i thought it was pretty impressive [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
TAW_Blaze Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Nothing special, he has the energy advantage on you and you do nothing about that. Start thinking of having the upper hand before the fight instead of trying to punch back from a losing position.
Maximus_Lazarus Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 Yeah he did caught me by surprise With energy advantage, you mean speed right ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Maximus_Lazarus Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 Well tell me bro, what could i have done to avoid dying ? Should i just have ran ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
TAW_Blaze Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) Altitude, you're flying straight for too long you need to be climbing as soon as you spot him higher, speed on it's own is not enough if he's higher than you his ER's are way faster and your slammers won't be able to climb up to him, your only good chance is a well executed notch here or a long extend looking for help, if you try to drag his ERs he'll be so close to you if you try to recommit you're dead. Flying head straight into him at the start isn't very useful either. Fighting from the disadvantage is either a loser's or a teamplayer's mindset. The teamplayer will always win, but you're working alone here, so you want to have the winner's mindset on your own. Always try to gain an advantage before the fight starts, unless the enemy doesn't know about you. Back to the original fight, I'm not sure how much time passed between detection and the first shot, but you could have taken a better position. Would it have won the fight for you? Maybe. In many aspects BVR is more about what you do before the fight than what you do during the fight. Execution is very important but against a competent pilot execution alone is not good enough. If he executes the fight just as well as you do and he had the better position at the start he'll win 10/10 no problem. Edited April 21, 2014 by <Blaze>
Maximus_Lazarus Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 Well actually i thought i had beamed/notched him good enough, but his radar still was able to keep a lock on me How long untill enemy radar drops me as a contact when beaming/notching ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
TAW_Blaze Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Hard to tell, you might have been in the notch for a second but you turned out of it too soon. Or you might have not been in it at all. Just don't mind that though, you made much worse mistakes than screwing up the notch. Try to correct those first.
[Knight] Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 All you did was crank. you didn't try to beam him until it was to late you should have just split-s and ran. Edit** Also the ER is quicker than the 120 keep that in mind. http://104thphoenix.com/ https://www.youtube.com/c/104th_Knight https://www.twitch.tv/104th_knight 104th_Knight
Maximus_Lazarus Posted April 21, 2014 Author Posted April 21, 2014 So... what you're saying is , i'm noob ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
TAW_Blaze Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 So... what you're saying is , i'm noob ? It's a matter of perspective. I would say, you have a lot to learn. :) Your mindset is good, keep asking, keep posting things, don't be afraid to be wrong. Everyone makes a lot of mistakes that only himself can spot and correct. Keep asking. Keep thinking of good questions, the answers for those will teach you the most.
Frostie Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Well tell me bro, what could i have done to avoid dying ? Should i just have ran ? The main reason you lost this engagement is that he fired first, plus you didn't start any maneuvers until his missile was halfway through its flight. Also look at the way the bandits snaking pattern affects your missiles whilst his missile is expending much less energy than yours to reach its destination. As for notching he may have got lower than you meaning your beam wouldn't have got into the notch, also you don't really get into a perfect beam to achieve the notch you just carry on and turn away, you need to drop altitude if you're attempting to notch. He may also have switched PRF modes to maintain a lock but at that range all PRF modes would probably keep that lock. Can't tell if you did or not but use countermeasures. You had the disadvantage you should have either let it maddog and run or been much more defensive in your actions. "[51☭] FROSTIE" #55 'Red 5'.
