I might be heading off to Africa ..... perhaps in the next 6 to 12 months to totally stripdown & rebuild a spitfire ..... repair it , make bits for it and replace every magnesium rivet with aluminium ones ..... should take a couple years . She was a gate guardian so has a monster hole hacked in her belly from the support used to display it .

Should be fun . Ive worked on F4U4 , B-25 , DC-6B , T-26 ..... Spitfire would be nice to add to the CV ..... but a 190 or a 110 would be nicer .

Looks like you got a nice job there .

I used to work for The Flying Bulls ..... owned by Didier Matachitz who is part owner of Red Bull and owner of the Red Bull F1 team .

After I left he got a P-38 .

I think the Spitfire I might be doing is a MK.22 , without the Merlin engine .

Im mostly a structure eng .

Awesome, I love spits but the late ones from Post MK-IVX bores me a little.

Mm We do engines and structial and painting where pretty much a complete place, i am learning engines and structural.

Never did fabric ..... yet . Kinda like to leave that job for women ..... lol .

No seriously ..... I wouldn't mind learning about it . The DC-6B used fabric and this particular aircraft used to be the presidential flight from Marschal Tito of the former Yugoslavia .

The Corsair F4U4 was I think ex French Navy .

B-25 I know was done by Ezell Aviation , in Breckenridge , Texas ..... as was the P-38 .

I particularly like making ribs and stuff like that from sheet and cooking it up to temper . Then when u see the finished product that fits like an original one nested in position ..... that makes me happy .
