Good to know. Right before I got to Garbage for the first time, the game started to CTD all over the place, so I put it aside and thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if there was a patch? That was like 12 hours ago, so luck favors the patient. :)

 

Don't worry, there are still some CTD bugs. For example contacts page in PDA and download page.

Yeah cause its been leaked by a tester in January.

And its not a big deal when you know next step can crash the Game ...Save the Game or do a Workaround.

I didn't know about that. Is that the reason the game was now released ahead of schedule and thus more bugged than Dez would have wanted? That sounds f***ed up. :(

Yeah, I'm kinda learning about it. After the patch, I got reboot crashes rather than CTDs. I then realized the patch hadn't actually patched, because in the main menu it showed version 1.3001, so I uninstalled and reinstalled -- and then I read that that's actually the correct version display for 1.30013.

 

Judging from the bug reports, it looks like a wise choice to back off from LA for the time being. I think I'll give it another go and see if I can make it to Garbage this time, but since patches don't seem to be savegame-compatible, I don't want too much frustration to add up -- because aside from the bugs, LA is a stunningly beautiful game and I really want to play it. If that means waiting another year 'till the Devs think it's ready, then so be it. Better than getting stuck after 50 hours of gameplay.

Now that's weird (in a positive way). This time it took me about 3 hours to do all the important quests in Cordon, then walk over to Garbage and get the first quest done there, and not a single crash. Looks like the game wants to keep me drawn into it. :D

 

I can't tell if I've done something differently this time. Possibly the major change as compared to the first two installations is that I installed it on my D: drive and not in C:\Program Files (X86)\. If that's all it takes to make the game stable, so be it (keeping my fingers crossed :)).

 

In any case, I really like the way LA portraits the zone! :thumbup:

That's it, I'm done playing LA for now. I don't want to replay it again to avoid bugged colonel.

I will surely play it again, just when it's patched.

When eggheads fix your pda you come back to bar. Then you get task "Talk with Petrenko" or something similar. Problem is, there is a guy stuck in doors and most of the time Petrenko doesn't have task for you when you are talking with him.

Didn't worked for me, I would have to have some saved games from before I load bar map. Problem is, I'm quicksave guy.

I've played LA continuously since the 1.30013 patch came out. Man I love it! I enjoy the Zone so much that I take forever to complete the quests. Most of the time I'm just traveling between places, trying to sell stuff from fallen enemies to friendly Stalkers who have some cash left. :juggle:

 

The monolith dudes are fun like always. :worthy:

 

Anyway, I just hit a dead end when I couldn't open the door to X18. The PDA's diary page listed a code that didn't work. Luckily I had a savegame all the way back when the correct code is received in a radio transmission.

 

In case someone else has the same problem:

Here is long awaited second patch for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Lost Alpha. Here are some very important facts about it:

• Due to the changes in storyline and engine, it's required to start a new game after you installed this update.
  
• Your previous saves will not work.
  
• This patch is cumulative, so you don't need to install the previous (1.30013) patch at all.
  
• The patch installer will wipe out your gamedata directory so backup whatever mods you've installed
  
• Beware, mods made for 1st patch will not work with this 2nd patch until mod makers make them compatible. We can not give support in this case.

 

Darn. I'd stopped my first LA playthrough because I hit a known quest bug, but now I have to start all over again. :(

 

Well, so far I've thoroughly enjoyed the new (old) zone, so why not? :D
