msalama Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 ...or am I imagining things? I just flew a Ka-50 mission where I was on my merry way to destroy some badguy armor, when *WWWROOM!* an enemy Hind flew past me in a turn with a clear intention of blasting me down with his front gun (he was luckily all out of missiles). But believe it or not he then seemed to spot our aerial defences, and consequently decided to break off and leg it back to his side of the frontline! Now my mistake was to follow him, because the sneaky bugger of course knew I was coming and smoked me when we were out of the SAM engagement area :helpsmilie: I don't think I've ever seen the DCS AI behaving like this, i.e. as if they've suddendly gained a healthy dose of survival instinct or something. Or is it just me? 1 The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
ED Team NineLine Posted April 28, 2014 ED Team Posted April 28, 2014 I think the AI has always been hit and miss in DCS (or any sim for that matter), I have had some times where the AI has been impressive, and other times were they do the dumbest things ever... I think it greatly depends on the mission design as well.... Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
msalama Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 Surely it's hit and miss, but I just wonder if something has happened behind the curtain ;) The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
Bucic Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 You read too much into it. This is AI. He could as well broke off because wind direction was greater than his remaining fuel quantity and you were descending ;) But. I do recall one of the changelogs containing a lot of AI fixes. Can't remember when it was though or was it a patch for DCS W or just a BS2 changelog. It would be great if we had some sort of AI labels for debugging. Bushmanni Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I have been doing quite a lot of fighting with Hinds lately and they seem be acting pretty smart but don't have a spotting ability of a psychic so you actually have a change of seeing them first, especially if they are already busy engaging their targets. For once it seems chopper AI is working really nice. I hope that after EDGE ED would update the simulation engine so that AI wouldn't break after every update in some way.
