Dudikoff Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 (edited) I'm trying to update to 1.2.8, but the updater hangs after a while (the downloaded data amount and download speed doesn't change and neither does the size of the _downloaded folder which was at around 150 MB's). If I kill it and start it again, it doesn't even start downloading - it says it does, but the size and speed don't appear. If I kill it again (cancel doesn't work as it hangs), delete the temporary downloads folder and start it again, it starts downloading, but hangs again after some time (300 MB's were downloaded). Anyone had such issues before? I'd rather download just the 2.5 GB's for the update from 1.2.7 if possible rather than doing the whole 7.5 GB's as it will take much more time. Thanks. OK, checked the log file and maybe the server was overloaded? INFO : Using normal download. ERROR: Conection to server 'update2.eagle.ru' failed: Failure when receiving data from the peer Still, the updater shouldn't hang then, right? I've also checked the older log file (from the first attempt) and it doesn't say anything there after the line INFO : Using normal download. Diemos Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I imagine it's not really hung, per se, just waiting a new connection... It can sit idle for a very long time. I highly recommend the BitTorrent route to download all the files you need*. Took me a little over two hours to download every available module... *Assuming a full reinstall... (I should have read better :music_whistling: )
Dudikoff Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 (edited) Yeah, I guess you're right as it's working correctly today. I'm used to installers having some timeout and then abort if the connection is not (re)established during that time, although I guess this is a better solution as you can leave it unattended and it will continue when a connection is obtained. The thing is, I did leave it overnight and in the morning it was still not downloading so it definitely looked like it just hanged there, especially since the "Cancel" option was not responding. So, I wouldn't discard an option that the update application needs some fixes yet. As for your other comment, for the full install, I always go for the torrent as IMHO it's more efficient, but currently have a limited Internet access so the less I have to download, the better.
