Bucic Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Pilot not aware his A/C is not fit for inverted flight? Nice. Thanks for the report, Isegrim! F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
Isegrim Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 GOOD NEWS If have talked to one of the Pilots of the EADS/Messerschmitt Stiftung today at ILA 2014 Berlin. She will be in Flying condition again in 1 Month. :) ISE "Blyat Naaaaa" - Izlom

Isegrim Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Mr. Döllefeld couldnt tell me that. He wasnt allowed to talk with me about the crash cicumstances and what will be. So its possibly NOT Claus Plasa again. "Blyat Naaaaa" - Izlom
FBVikS Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 "not suitable for inverted flight"? Is fuel and injection system made as original or there was any changes? (except 100 octane fuel use?)
Kurfürst Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 The original aircraft wasn't meant for prolonged inverted flight, either. I doubt any fighter was in the era, what would be the use..? Fuel starvation is probably a good thing in this context anyway, since the lubrication system should be also able to cope with inverted flight, and I am not sure if it was or wasn't. Probably not, though I suppose with a fully filled tank fuel starvation is less of a problem then with a half filled one.. The original 109 manual says that all aerobatic manouvers are permitted, but inverted flight is only allowed for short periods. http://www.kurfurst.org - The Messerschmitt Bf 109 Performance Resource Site Vezérünk a bátorság, Kísérőnk a szerencse! -Motto of the RHAF 101st 'Puma' Home Air Defense Fighter Regiment The Answer to the Ultimate Question of the K-4, the Universe, and Everything: Powerloading 550 HP / ton, 1593 having been made up to 31th March 1945, 314 K-4s were being operated in frontline service on 31 January 1945.
Isegrim Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 "not suitable for inverted flight"? Is fuel and injection system made as original or there was any changes? (except 100 octane fuel use?) I think you mixed this up with the ability of the fuel injection system of the DB 60x engines to handle better with negative G forces like other Planes engines with Carburetor. And maybe Mr. Plasa did also. "Blyat Naaaaa" - Izlom
MiloMorai Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 The fuel pick up in the tank is at the bottom of the tank, so when inverted all that it will be picking up is air.
