Quilty Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Does anyone know how Helios should be connected with the latest version of DCS World? I tried setting up the interface for A10C in the Helios editor, but that didn't work (the Helios buttons did not affect the game when pressed and none of the gauges worked). Is there some additional installation procedure? Thanks for any suggestions.:)
CJS Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Spent hours looking and experimenting alas to no avail. Helios + DCS 1.2.8 seem incompatible without probably some code tinkering... Shame...
Capt Zeen Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Spent hours looking and experimenting alas to no avail. Helios + DCS 1.2.8 seem incompatible without probably some code tinkering... Shame... I am usign helios width 1.2.8 and not problems at all. I really dont make nothing special to make it work from 1.2.7 to 1.2.8 so, whats exactly your problem? mr_mojo97 Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Yep no issues here either, can you be more specific with your issues. Unfortunately Gadroc rarely post on these forums but if you have a specific issue you could try posting on his website MSI M5 z270 | Intel i5 7600k (OC) 4.8GHz | MSI GTX1080ti Gaming X 11Gb | 500gb Samsung 970 Evo NVME M.2 (DCS World) | 500gb Samsung 850 Evo SSD (OS and Apps) | 32Gb 2400MHz DDR4 - Crucial Ballistix | Be Quiet Silent Loop 240mm | NZXT H440 case | Thrustmaster Warthog - 47608 with Virpil Mongoose joystick base | MFG Crosswinds - 1241 | Westland Lynx collective with Bodnar X board | Pilot's seat from ZH832 Merlin | JetSeat | Oculus Rift S | Windows 10 | VA |
BaD CrC Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Helios working great here on two different PC with 1.2.8... https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
Einherjer Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 It is the Export.lua issue, right? Helios adds the Parameters to the Export.lua in the Main Game folder, but since 1.2.6 it have to be in the saved Games Folder, so just copy the Export.lua from saved Games/dcs/scripts to the (Installation path) dcsworld/scripts Add the A-10c Interface (this should add the Requied Parameters And move the .lua back to the saved Games/dcs/scripts Folder. Should i tell you to make Backups? Maybe it helps. I am not on the PC so i can just say what i remember.
CJS Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) Thanks for all the replies, Lads, appreciated. My end is a new 1.2.8 install on W8.1. No previous versions of DCS were installed and updated. My install : Original export.lua is within....Eagle Dynamics/DCW World/Scripts/ Originally ....Eagle Dynamics/DCW World/Config/Export folder does not exist nor of course the export.lua & config.lua within. I have tried all various permutations listed in the forums of folder creation, copying export.lua here there and every where but no luck LOL, the guages do not link with DCS on play.. .... and there are a few others about in the same boat... May I ask for someone to type a few simple bullet points for Helios engaging a new install of DCS 1.2.8.... of what is copied / created where and the 'A10c install path on the interface section of Helios profile editor... Once I get one guage linked and working I'd be flying :) Edited May 26, 2014 by CJS
DerekM Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Hi guys, I also have Helios working with no issue on 1.2.8. I based my files on the contents in the ZIP file posted here by PeterP. I noticed some subtle differences between 1.2.7 and 1.2.8 in the files; my advice is to download the ZIP file in that post and compare them to what you have. Back everything up, of course! :) Also, I'm currently working on a tutorial for setting up a dual monitor configuration with Helios (the lower monitor being a touchscreen). It's not quite ready yet though, unfortunately. My beginner guides: [1] Export.lua [2] Dual-monitor+Helios+Cap Loz
CJS Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Thanks Derek, yes I have previously looked at those files and they did not make too much sense for my intentions. Maybe my understanding of Helios is wrong. I thought you could have for example, the anologue altimeter, displayed and linked to DCS A10-C.. in a relatively simple process.... at least that was the case on older DCS versions demonstrated on UTube... Thats the reason I'm asking for a few simple bullet points showing Helios engaging a new install of DCS 1.2.8.... of what is copied / created where and the 'A10c install path on the interface section of Helios profile editor... or perhaps I'm being too simplistic? (My goal would be to have 2 screen monitor setup, one 21:9 on top and a 16:9 below with selected Instruments at the desired scaling..)
CJS Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 UPDATE: Helios 1.3.19 works perfect straight out of the box on DCS 1.2.8... :) Thank you GADROC for maintaining Helios for 1.2.8 For me it was all pilot error in the bindings.... No need to change anything, swap files or create folders etc.... The default path to DCS World shown for me i.e. C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World is good. Helios creates the correct export.lua in the correct place, .....Users/***/Saved Games/DCS/Scripts and These videos for me, turned on the lightbulb for Helios use.... thank you OutLAW
