Using EMC & Hawgtouch - EMC issue with MP

Hello group,

 

needing a little help. I'm using the Easy Monitor Configurator (EMC), along with Hawgtouch.

 

I'm able to work just fine in the single player missions. EMC displays the most common extracts, (RWR, CDU, MFD's, etc), to my 2nd display. For reference, it's a 20", 1600 x 900. I have my Cougar MFD's pasted to that display, with the extracted EMC MFD's, and all works cool.

 

I use Hawgtouch to display the common engine gauges, and again, they all work cool in single player mode.

 

When I jump on a server for multiplayer is where I have an issue.

 

Hawgtouch extracts just fine, but I lose everything for the EMC extracted info. Is there a setting for making sure the EMC extracted info works in MP?

hey Jave , Can you get just the EMC to run in multiplayer with out HT?

I tried that as a troubleshooting step as well, no joy. I see nothing in MP. I'm attaching my monitor.lua & HT file file for reference.

 

(note - the EMC configured monitor.lua file and HT work just fine in SP).

have you tried to write a new .lua for your monitor.lua and then try EMC? I don't use HT but i do use the EMC to run my setup and it works in both SP/MP with out any trouble,I would start from scratch save all your stuff and start with the EMC and see what happens..I have to ask are you doing a cold start?Cus u wont see anything till you start to turn things on?

I'll have to give that a go... really weird that it's running fine in SP, but not MP...

Just tried rebuilding a new monitor.lua file. did not run HT either. the EMC setup works great within SP, but no joy for MP.

 

maybe there's something I need to toggle in my users saved games, options.lua??

 

at a loss. EMC works like a champ for me in single player mode, (and I'm using 1.2.8 ).

I should state that when I fire up MP, on my second display, I'll see the campaign map, (after selecting a server, and starting the load). Once I select my aircraft and go into the briefing, and then load, then my second display goes black. And I see nothing on it. I only see the cockpit on the 1st display.

 

Note, this is only for the MP. When in SP, the second display works just fine, and I can see all of the indicator extractions, including the MFD's, etc. And the 1st display shows the cockpit just fine.

 

my 1st monitor is a 1920x1080, the 2nd is a 1600x900.

When you do SP is the Aircraft already started? or do you do that yourself? Also when you start your MP do you use the MP(green ) icon or do you use the reg game(gray) icon when I start mp and everything loads up i get the same thing with the map and my main screens(3) are all showing out the glass view and my 4th monitor is black till I start my start up once the power is on and I start turning things on thats when will i see the 4th one come to life,You are on west coast time or mtn?if you want we can setup a time we can jump on TS and figure this out...BTW the .lua looks ok..this is strange...let me know what time is good for you i'm on EST. but I'm a night owl so anytime is good for me..and if we can't fix it we'll ask the Big guns for help!

thanks for the info. I enter via the green icon. In multiplayer, I go in cold. so I bet that's my issue. (I did not go through the whole ramp start). You've probably nailed it. :doh:

 

I'm heading off to my Brother-in-Law's annual Indy 500 party, but work to jump on later this evening.

 

I'll post results this evening, (I'm in AZ, so we're on MTN).

doh, went through the whole ramp start, and everything is cool. my bad.

 

generally, when I make tweaks or add MOD's, I always go back to the same SP mission, to baseline the performance. Of course, the SP has me flying in a warm bird, and of course MP generally are ramp start cold. rookie mistake on my part. :doh:

 

I bought a 20" 1600x900 Acer LCD via Craigslist, for $25. Moved my Cougar MFD's over to it, and was happy to come across EMC. EMC sure made things easier. I was using a 15" 1024x768 as the second display, just for the Cougars. So now I have a bit more video real estate.

 

I've got HT and it's gauges working just fine, and now the extractions I can get via EMC, and that second 20" LCD is looking good.

 

Though I noted I've probably lost about 5FPS, going from the 15" to the 20", plus the additional extractions and HT.

 

Now I'll probably just turn off the MFD's in the cockpit view, to gain a little FPS back.

I just hunted down that kwikpit, via google. Cool, I see the mod potential. My son is quite the wood craftsman, I may have a nice little project for him, to make for the old man. :)

I've got the Saitek combat rudders, and agree, a good floor would be best for the rudders too. :thumbup:

 

Right now, I'm trying to picture the right display setup, for what I currently have.

 

I'm using a 24" for the main cockpit display, and the 20" set to the left of it, for the extractions and the Cougar MFD's.

 

Would like to have a desk where the 20" is dropped below the 24", so I look down slightly to work it, rather than looking to the left.

 

Plus, still have some room in front for keeping the keyboard there. and then of course, the mouse to the right, and still have the right ergonomics for the Thrustmaster Warthog.

 

One day, I'll expand that 24" to add (2) more, but that should be rather easy with the right type of monitor stand. (and a better GPU).

Dropping the 2nd screen below the main is the way to go if you ask me:thumbup: It looks better and feels right.with the Kp its ez to mod to do just that..and my keyboard is on a tray that slides in and out. the Rhino is Screwed to the sides,again you can mod the sides and the top for what ever size you want to go with. but i need to warn you!!! this is habit forming...:megalol: there is no going back to the desk top to fly:music_whistling: I have a whole other setup on my Desk for FPS and WOT...:joystick:

Agreed.

 

TeamViewer ( http://www.teamviewer.com/en/index.aspx ) is quite useful once you reach that point. Anything that needs to be done to my pit machine, that doesn't require me sitting in it (or a sim running), is done via TeamViewer from another machine.
