Skitter Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Hi guys, I wonder if anybody could hint me on how to get my hands on DCS World, weapons explosion range ? Is there a database editor ? Or maybe a ready chart ? Cheers
winchesterdelta1 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 What doe the title "Danger close" has to do with your question? Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.
Skitter Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 (edited) If you know a weapon kill/blast/fragmentation radious - or whatever it is called, you can calculate the "Danger close distance". If you are playing as a JTAC, it is a crucial information... Edited May 28, 2014 by Skitter
Flagrum Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 If you know a weapon kill radious - or whatever it is called, you can calculate the "Danger close distance". If you are playing as a JTAC, it is a crucial information... If you want to learn more about JTACs, you might want to google for FM 3-09.32 "JFIRE". In that document you find also the distances you're looking for.
Skitter Posted May 28, 2014 Author Posted May 28, 2014 Thanks! I have (so far) found information on the "minimum safe distance" on probably all of the weapons used in the game by A-10. Looks like an interesting manual. Cheers.
MikiBzh Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 You should look for the 0.1%PI (probability of incapacitation), depending of ammo type. Here is an example : http://quizlet.com/12574874/munitions-flash-cards/ 1
RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 These examples are being revisited in the near future. To date the PI % and distances were created in white sands if Im not mistaken with scientific models that were in the prone position in full military kit and winter equipment for some odd reason. ( I imagine parka and pants). The PI % is the worse case scenario of taking the above solution and the weapon. So if you drop a GBU-12 with a PI of 0.1 at 170m's for example 1 out of 1000 men would be incapacitated for 5 mins. This is the worst case scenario. This does NOT mean that will happen. You might have 7 men hit with debris, shell fragments etc. IMHO all would walk away without a scratch. Its for the JTAC and ground force commander to discuss and the Ground Force Commander makes the call. Many weapons are being revisited because of the attack angles JDAM can bring in a weapon at and circular errors etc. Also of note in these tests. The two metal objects attached to the bomb that allows the bomb to hook up to the aircraft..... No one knows where they blow off to???? They are there somewhere. But hopefully your troops wont find out the hard way. Sorry its long winded. But hopefully your troops wont find out the hard way. i'd be more worried about the fragments of the bomb casing which those 2 metal objects are attached to, since they will be greater both in quantity and mass.
Pikey Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 What you are looking for is written in detail in the JFIRE manual http://info.publicintelligence.net/MTTP-JFIRE.pdf APPENDIX F: Danger close p105 onwards, goes through every weapon likely. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
