I have been current with my updates. This morning when I went to run the the A-10, I got a dcs updater install prompt, then it downloaded, then it went to the initializing portion and just hung there for a couple hours, Couldn't even open up anything else like task manager to shut it down. So I reformatted the drive and reloaded an image from a couple days ago, went through the same process and there it sits "initializing" for about 8 hours now, and I can not open up a browser or taskmanager. Bit defender is current with updates and I scan every day? Any suggestions? Thanks

How are you trying to bring up Task Manager?

There were quite a few instances of "Bit Defender not playing nice with DCS" reports a while back...

restart in Safe Mode and disable the Bit Defender, then restart normally and try updating again.

Pretty sure it's BF again. I finally got frustrated enough to uninstalled world, & BF. Lucky I still had the world download. Got world & modules back. then BF. N/P now. I started a ticket with them. They did fix BD problem in 2013, but back in 2014 .V Anyone who thinks it's the problem should contact them.

Control-Alt Delete to bring up task manager, no response. I get no response of anything else either. I will try your suggestion about disabling bitdefender. If that is the root cause, it would be the 1st problem I have had between the 2 in many years? I thought it may have had something to do with the announcements of the Keys from steam not working anymore. I don't use steam anymore anyway,I really didn't understand that post or how it might effect me? I have bought some modules both thru steam and DCS, so I don't know?

Do you remember how to disable bit defender from the desktop? I know there was a way, but that was a couple years ago that I did it

Thanks, I did a search for this issue before I posted,, odd i didnt see that one,,, anyway,, how quickly I forgot! I did have an issue with Bitdefender before, and posted up here;

Adding a few things to bitdefenders exclusion list resolved my update issues at that time, back then I was using 2013,, when I updated to Bitdefender 2014, I never added anything to the exclusions list and found my updates went well,,, I will now look into that again along with your suggestion,, thanks.

Adding a few files to bitdefenders exclusion list worked for me again this time.
