Gandi Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Same here !! Update to 1.2.8 "Couldn't resolve host name" Uninstall my DCS Download the newes Version from the Website. Install fine but the Moduls the same error "Couldn't resolve host name"
samtheeagle Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Ditto! Getting nothing but cannot resolve hostname errors from the updater :( I've just purchased the Mi-8 in the sale and I can't get it installed because the base DCS World version is too low ;( I've never had any issues with the updater before, and my software hasn't changed, same AV and firewall setup as I had previously. Also, like the OP said, I cannot get the in game module manager to connect either. I'm currently running 1.28.27203, and seem unable to upgrade from there.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 18, 2014 ED Team Posted June 18, 2014 have a look at your dcs world instal folder and check what your autoupdate_log says, might find some clues in there. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 18, 2014 ED Team Posted June 18, 2014 (edited) Have you tried to update / repair you dcs install via the start menu yet? before trying to install the module? samtheeagle Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 For whatever reason I have never had that option in my start menu items, this is all I have in mine. I am running DCS_Updater.exe update from the command line to try and force it to pick up the latest version, but no dice :(
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 18, 2014 ED Team Posted June 18, 2014 are you running the steam version of dcs? Forum rules - DCS Crashing? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 18, 2014 ED Team Posted June 18, 2014 If you are running the steam version do an integrity check. If you are running a non steam version I would un-install and go for a new install http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/dcs_world/ Forum rules - DCS Crashing? samtheeagle Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Non steam version. I was afraid that someone was going to suggest that. Post #2 of this thread suggests that while this might get me to the latest version for now, it doesn't remove the problem. I certainly don't want to be downloading ~7.5gb of data for each and every update!
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 18, 2014 ED Team Posted June 18, 2014 (edited) I will highlight this internally and see if I can get some more help and suggestions. All the obvious stuff like firewalls, antivirus and other 3rd party applications have been disabled when you try to update? I am just thinking out loud now :) sorry I could not of been more help Edited June 18, 2014 by BIGNEWY 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? samtheeagle Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 (edited) Cheers BIGNEWY, you sir are a star! Yeah, firewall off. Flushed the dns cache, rebooted my cable modem, my pc... I have no idea, it's all very odd and annoying. Edited June 18, 2014 by samtheeagle
9.JG27 DavidRed Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 ok, i reinstalled even windows now, and did again a clean dcs world install. dcs world install went without problems, and then i logged in to the module manager...it worked at first, and it showed me my available modules and asked me whether i would like to download them...after i confirmed i got immediately again the same message... after exiting and launching dcs again, i couldnt connect to the module manager anymore...
ED Team c0ff Posted June 18, 2014 ED Team Posted June 18, 2014 There are 2 separate issues here: 1) can't connect to the module manager: this is something to do with the access to https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/ from the Launcher.exe, please check your firewall settings. 2) can't update, especially, update.eagle.ru returning HTTP 400 - I'm looking into this right now. 9.JG27 DavidRed Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 i just checked my firewall settings and made sure that dcs.exe, dcsupdater.exe and dcslauncher.exe are accepted/ignored by the firewall... launched dcs, went into the module manager...i can see my name as being logged in, but my modules are not visibile...also the refresh button does nothing...
ED Team c0ff Posted June 18, 2014 ED Team Posted June 18, 2014 Updates are fixed! Thanks for the reporting. update2.eagle.ru and update3.eagle.ru will fail once - this is normal, these hostnames are not used anymore. Dmitry S. ED Team c0ff Posted June 18, 2014 ED Team Posted June 18, 2014 As for the module manager, there were no changes on our side, so it looks like a client-side/ISP issue. Please, check Saved Games\DCS\me.log for the exact error message. Dmitry S. Baikov @ Eagle Dynamics LockOn FC2 Soundtrack Remastered out NOW everywhere - https://band.link/LockOnFC2.
