Hi...

I'm not talking about autopilot systems currently in Mi-8 or Ka-50

We have virtual autopilot in Huey; it's considered that co-pilot is driving when engaged.

Why not in Mi-8 in same manner?

Maybe we get it some day - Mi-8 is still WIP - if it is necessary. The Co-Pilot in the Huey just can't fly the helo when he is using the sighting system - so without a AI pilot it would be impossible to use that feature. The Mi-8 on the other hand has no similar features (yet?).

Oh, yes actually I didn't think in that way. You're right. Thanks for explaining.

The way I see it, the actual autopilot of the Mi-8 is far superior to the AI copilot of the Huey. The latter drifts to either side when told to fly level to the extent that I constantly have to interrupt him, and redraw the course to wherever I'm flying. It's been that way from the start, and despite the fact that this makes the AI copilot utterly useless for anything else than short stretches, it hasn't even been commented on yet.

Never thought of that, while the Mi-8 autopilot is doing its job well enough - but yes, having a co-pilot would make sense. And it would make the same sense for any module with co-pilot controls. IMHO it's totally realistic. Without the CP the door guns would have to be AI only too, and who wants that?

However, the co-pilot could be a bit more intelligent... controlling him/her with your voice would be awesome. BANK LEFT BANK LEFT! NO, RIGHT! ...fck.

Dear Shilka. I hate you so very very much. Love, Rex

Funny I can trim the hip and leave it flying for hours but the huey with auto pilot engaged either drifts miles off course or descends till it crashes. Meaning if I fly long distance and need to go do chores I always fly the mi-8;)

Maybe is possible to add that virtual copilot to the Hip somehow? I mean copying how it works on the Huey and adding the feature to the Hip.

I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!

What's the purpose? The Huey copilot isn't even able to follow a flight plan, let alone fly straight. All three settings it has can be accomplished with far superior results using the Mi-8's autopilot.
