windyman56 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 So I read in an earlier thread that in order to play via Hamachi, you must change the IP address in the match creation screen to the Hamachi address. However, when I click on the IP address to change it, it doesn't let me. Is there any possible way to change the IP address, or have they disabled that for some reason?
Wizard1393 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 So why would you want to play with hamachii? Hamachii requires you to have an internet connection and if you do, you're better off just just create a normal server and set a password. Thing is the normal server simply isn't working for my friend and I. We try to connect via IP with open ports but it still won't let us create our own servers.
Cibit Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 A friend and I had the same problem, it still connected us even though the GUI said wrong IP. Could not connect via master server. Otherwise, Hamachi is for users who can`t open ports on routers. Quote Немој ништа силом, узми већи чекић! And also, we can join existing servers, we just can't make our own (our servers do not show up in the list, and connecting via IP results in a "can't connect" message).
Falcon_S Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 ... (our servers do not show up in the list, and connecting via IP results in a "can't connect" message). Router. Check twice... UDP port 10308 must be opened so you can be visibile on the server list. Quote Немој ништа силом, узми већи чекић! BitMaster Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Thing is both of us have our firewalls 100% off. And also, we can join existing servers, we just can't make our own (our servers do not show up in the list, and connecting via IP results in a "can't connect" message). This thread might be dead but I may post anyways for others: There is a BIG difference between "Firewall 100% OFF" and forwarding a Port from the Firewall ( point where you WAN comes in ) to your Server ( DCS-Server ). Trying to put in in simple words: You cannot turn OFF a firewall usually, not when you run a standard home user Firewall based on NAT. You would have to use the router as a plain MODEM only ( if it allows that operation mode too, some do, some don't ) and have your Windows PC directly on the WAN. This is ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED unless you like Viruses and Trojans. It would either work as a Dial-Up on DSL or static connection with Cable. Either way, you do not want to turn off NAT and you do not want to connect directly to the WAN. What you need is this: 1: Keep NAT enabled, it is a core function of your Home Network to function. The less you know the less you turn and flip switches :) 2: Open needed Ports: For DCS this is 10308 ( and a FEW others, depending on your Firewall's capabilities. All-Blocking FW's do need more Ports, Home-User-Routers don't ! ) You have to find the menu in your router where you can FORWARD PORTS. There, you define the protocol ( TCP and/or UDP for our case ), the originating Port and the destination Port as well as originating IP ( here 0.0.0.0 for all IP's worldwide, most routers do not need originating IP settings at all, only more sophisticated ones usually need this ) and MOST IMPORTANT the DESTINATION IP, the IP of your DCS-Server in your LAN. Example: DCS-Server 192.168.0.100 DCS-Client 192.168.0.10 Router 192.168.0.1 Network 192.168.0.0/24 ( same as: NETWORK 192.168.0.0 MASK 255.255.255.0 ) - open port 10308 tcp in the router to IP 192.168.0.100 on the same port 10308 - do this for any Port needed as told in documentation/forum Close those ports again after using DCS-Server. There won't be any services running to exploit after all when you are done, but you should always close what you opened to not get more and more potential entrance doors you forgot about. If your Firewall has a BLOCK-ALL policy, then search for one of my threads regarding PortForwarding. There are a few Ports you have to have opened to get it working. This only applies to NON-HOME user routers ( Cisco, Juniper, GP etc... ) It pays to read some documentation about NAT Networks and Routers in general. You won't have to make a master in this but it pays back when you want to operate a public server of any kind in your LAN. It is not that hard to understand, just give yourself a few hours reading. Better than a few hours of useless frustration when you get stuck in NAT and have no clue about it why and how and anyways... :) Bit 1 Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
