drack Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Can we use AWACS with the F-86? If so what is its frequency? If not how do you locate bandits without using F10? Thanks. :book:
Furia Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 You can use the AWACS as long as the mission editor has asigned that AWACS an UHF frequency and you have the same frequency preseted on your AN/ARC-72 Command radio. regarding finding the targtes, welcome to the 50's where the main target location system was MK1 Eyeball :D it is indeed difficult. The Mig-15 is a very small aircraft (33 feet wingspawn) and very hard to locate. You have to train your eye for this. :joystick: For training, you can activate the labels or use the F-10. if the Mig is flying high you may see its contrails. The AWACS or the F-10 View simulating a GCI radar can help you to close on the Mig, but at this point you must locate it visually. With a bit of eye training, good light conditions it is not so difficult once you get your eye used to the Mig shape and size. Anyway, easy it is not. Both the Sabre and the Mig-15 were painted silver. It is known that pilots from both sides used to locate their enemies by the sun reflecting on the shiny metal. It would be a cool feature (effect) to see. Maybe in EDGE...
MariuszDW Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Yesterday AWACS helped me find Mig-15. I didn't have option to talk to them, but I could listen.
wolle Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Yesterday AWACS helped me find Mig-15. I didn't have option to talk to them, but I could listen. I can confirm this: there is no communication menu item to contact AWACS from your sabre, even if you have selected the correct frequency (i.e. you can listen to AWACS, but you can't contact them). Must be a bug. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Intel Core I7 4820K @4.3 GHz, Asus P9X79 motherboard, 16 GB RAM @ 933 MHz, NVidia GTX 1070 with 8 GB VRAM, Windows 10 Pro
