Tucano_uy Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Are most of the switches working against the (maybe not official) convention that left click is up, right click is down, mouse wheel up increases, mouse wheel down decreases, etc etc? It's quite confusing now. Maybe due to the beta stage.
Devrim Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I'm glad to see this thread. Otherwise I was going to open, but not only for Sabre. Actually, this switch thing must have been done from the beginning, in certain standard. For example, we have same problem in Mi-8MTV2. 2-way switches are: LMB up, RMB down, as we know. According to this, 3-way switches must be same (LMB: up, RMB: down and again RMB: down), but in Mi-8 cockpit you have to use RMB to switch it up. Ok, you will get used to it, but why?... Please fix switch thing, or what's wrong with me? :D Intel i7-14700@5.6GHz | MSI RTX4080 SuperSuprimX | Corsair V. 64GB@6400MHz. | Samsung 1TB 990 PRO SSD (Win10Homex64) Samsung G5 32" + Samsung 18" + 2x8"TFT Displays | TM Warthog Stick w/AVA Base | VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle | TM MFD Cougars | Logitech G13, G230, G510, PZ55 & Farming Sim Panel | TIR5 & M.Quest3 VR >>MY MODS<< | Discord: Devrim#1068
Tucano_uy Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 The problem is that you get used to a way, let's say on the Warthog, or the Mustang, and then you move to the Sabre and everything works the opposite way, and it's get messy. There should be a standard set by ED that would benefit all the products. IRL if I want to flick a switch up, I move my finger up. In virtual life if one wants to flick a switch up, the same movement/click should be done every time. BTW, I love the Sabre.
derelor Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 (edited) There is already a ticket for this - see this post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2137439&postcount=10 Please make left/right mouse clicking action consistent throughout the cockpit. Rule: left-click: switches: move down; dials: rotate counter-clockwise right click: switches: move up; dials: rotate clockwise Examples for rule violation: - Guns Selector (on left panel) - Drop Tank SelectorIf you want, you can assemble a complete list with all inconsistencies (maybe even across all modules) and I will forward it to the developers. ericoh Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Confusing scroll knobs: Radar range sweep rheostat knob: should be inverted. Bomb Manual pip control setting: should be inverted. Oxygen supply lever: should be inverted. Wingspan adjustment knob: should be inverted. Sight mechanical caging lever: should be inverted. Target altitude knob: should be inverted. Radio compass knob: should be inverted.
effte Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 In 1.2.10: The oxygen supply lever doesn't move by mouse wheel, only by click and drag. The mouse-over icon indicates it should be mouse wheel operated. The click-and-drag functionality should, as stated previously, be inverted. In addition, the flight manual states that it should be safetied in the ON position, so that should be the default at the very least. The gun selector dial on the left sidewall should be inverted. ----- Introduction to UTM/MGRS - Trying to get your head around what trim is, how it works and how to use it? - DCS helos vs the real world.
derelor Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Update: In current internal version there are no more mouse input inconsistencies in UH-1H (ticket #27594) and F-86F (ticket #27386) modules. See attachment for rules. 1338 - beyond leet ED Forum rules EN|DE|RU
Tucano_uy Posted August 20, 2014 Author Posted August 20, 2014 Great! Thanks for the good work and the update on it.

See attachment for rules. Nice to see they will all be the same. But just a curiosity question. Why is this standard opposite the A-10 and P-51 where the 3 position switches set as left click up right click down? Wouldn't it be easier to have 1 standard that all dev's follow? ED should establish a standard that all 3rd party devs have to follow. Mouse input is not consistent inside A-10 or P-51 modules. Look for example at CMS NWS, JMR, RWR, DISP switches (A-10C) and Homing Adapter Mode Switch (P-51D). 1338 - beyond leet ED Forum rules EN|DE|RU

I'd noticed that on the CMS switches, actually just figured it was that way because the up position was just a spring toggle, but they are a 3 way switch so should be the same.
