Crashing frequently, not always.

Hi guys, new poster and new user of DCS.

 

I have the latest version of DCS World with the Dora installed.

 

I frequently have the following problem (but not always)

 

The game boots to the main menu fine, I can select instant action, quick mission etc,

ok but when I select a mission it starts to load then crashes with the following message:

clicking 'ok' returns me to the menu.

 

I have tried all the suggestions in the FAQ sticky, but the problem continues.

 

When I have a succesful launch the game plays beautifully...smooth high frame rates with

most setting on high and I have not had a crash during a flying session. I'm running at 1920x1080.

 

Would love some help on this please.

ok...tried deleting the saved games folder, but no joy:(

 

I still get the same frequent crash at the same time.

 

A couple of things:

 

What files should I back up to save my control settings?

 

While trying different settings to fix my problem I noticed something strange in my video settings. I have 1920x1080 to match the native resolution of my projector with a 16.9 aspect ratio. After running the game and returning to the settings screen the ratio has changed to 1.7777777777778:huh:

 

more suggestions welcomed...this sim is gorgeous at the times I get it to run ok:joystick:

ok...I'm still trying to fix this crashing problem.

 

Today I had a breakthrough .....:thumbup:

 

If I unplug my Sidewinder FFB2 stick, I get no crashes at all (Yes, I tried un-ticking FFB in options but didn't help)

 

I also tried playing with an old non FFB saitek stick and this was good to go too.

 

Anyone have any clues how I can continue using my trusty Sidewinder?

At last...the problem is solved!

Looks like it was a USB bus problem. I had my FFB2 in one of the main PC USB ports. Swapping it to my powered USB hub has fixed it.

I have tested it all evening..not one crash.

I'm having the same problem Lensman is having except it never launches it crashes after the main menu quick action screen

C. that usually happens when U loose access to or the "dist." files change. this happens with windows updates. reinstall the Dist. files in the dcs folder.

 

 

c++ can be found here. U will want both files in that folder. sometimes it is the c++ files only that cause this.
