there's must be some quirks...

If it worked for a while as you said you just need to work on stability and play with these values. Try Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.) to check enabled.

Must work... don`t give up! (I assume we are eliminated the possible malfunction of the modules)

Thank you so much for your attention Falcon. Actually I'm on SkateZilla's idea (disabling Hardware Acceleration). Maybe I'll get back RAM modules.

I think SkateZilla is right, because (constantly thinking of it) BSOD didn't occur when playing DCS, just happened when Chrome was running. I'm still on the case. :)

Previously on "New RAM Causes BIOS Reset" :D

Hi...

I've bought new 2x4GB RAM, I have already 2x4GB RAM.

Problem is that after pressing power button, BIOS goes in reset cycle for every 2 secs...

...I'm tired. You're tired. :) I can't live with that. I returned RAM modules back. That's it. :( Case closed I think...

Hello.

At last, here's what I have done...

As I said I returned new RAMs to the store before. They didn't refund, instead they gave a coupon at same price of RAMs.

Today;

  1. I've bought Corsair Force 128GB SSD by using coupon. Currently I have Kingston 120GB SSD, and I'll install Kingston to my wife's laptop. :D :P

  2. I've bought Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz CL9 XMP that is exactly 100% same as currently what's installed on my system. Yaey! I'll receive it in 7~10 days (If it won't be a problem in my country's custom points).

I just wanted to add this info. :D

I couldn't easily find the memory QVL for that board (who does NOT have that in the manual? Or was I just blind when I read the manual for theboard?), but there is one thing to recall: sometimes what works on two modules will not work on four. I had that happen on my previous machine: I checked QVL when I first bought it and selected something I knew was compatible (a 2x2 kit). I later had a stick die on me, and decided to replace the whole stack of RAM with new (I had been running OC experiments on the previous RAM, so the remaining stick was likely to die soon anyway).

...however, even though 2x2 with those sticks was supported and worked, I later found that 4x2 was not. Would not pass POST. However, if I removed one stick so that I was running 3x2 - it worked.

The fact that your previous scenario had them working when alone (2x4), but not together (4x4), I suspect this might be what's happening. Your computer might be disliking the 4x4 situation specifically, not any specific RAMstick.

If you have the QVL on hand, have you checked that 4x4 of those Vengeance sticks are on that list? Because being on there for 2x4 is not necessarily the same as being on there for 4x4. :(

(Though admittedly, this is one of those cases where things really should work anyway, but as described I have come to take those QVL lists fairly seriously and, in order to avoid making others go through what I went through - and what you seem to have gone through - I never give memory advice to people that is not supported by a relevant QVL; as long as a QVL is available at all, that is.)

Yeah ALWAYS buy all the RAM you intend to use on the first trip and be certain that they are matched modules.. (I have had ALL KINDS of issues with RAM when trying to mix.) Sometimes you may get lucky and be able to add more RAM as long as the 2 shared channels are perfectly matched. (Unfortunately this is not the case for you..)

EDIT: NINJA SNIPED: GOOD GOD when I responded, my post WAS relevant to what was being said, but apparently about 30 guys sniped me and this posting is now pretty near useless.. DAMN.

QVL list for his board is a separate file.

I've looked at it and A LOT of the 4 Stick Kits run at only 1333MHz instead of their Rated 1600 or 1866.

Thanks for input Daniel.

My biggest clue was that detail timing values of old and new RAMs were not matching. That's why I've tried to find and buy same RAM modules, but never thought about installation configuration or that this may be a problem. I've got a QVList, but I can't say it's satisfying.

I think I have nothing to do now. I'm waiting for delivery. We'll see what happen when press the power button. :)

For DCS World sake, I hope it'll work. :robot:

Yea, that can be an other problem, even 4x4GB RAMs work at 1333MHz. If I'll manage to work all of them, I'll not forget "Hardware Acc." thing, this time... :P Edited by Devrim

If you get them to work at 1333, that's fine IMO though. The performance delta in that regime for DCS is negligible - what I've found was single-digit framerate percentage delta, which is within the uncertainty of the tests themselves.

So if you get yout 1600MHz DIMMs to work at 1333, don't worry about it. At most, the performance loss from the reduced clock in DCS should be where it is not humanly detectable - but the performance gained from the higher capacity should be.

Was guessing it had to be. I was on the official product page but couldn't find it though.

Might just have been me overlooking something obvious while working on other things (sometimes you get table-blind :P ).

For AMD System's I've built for myself and others.,

For Nearly every 4 DIMM Kit, I've had to up the IMC Voltage a hair to get DDR3-1600 Stable,

AMD States 4 DIMMS would automatically run at DDR3-1333 unless specified.

As AMD Chips use a IMC on the Processor.

Intel likely has their own way, but it's likely similar, DDR3-1600 4GBx2 Kits are likelu gonna run 1600 no problem, but 4 DIMMs would have issues with the memory controller unless overclocked manually

Regarding IMC, it's essentially the same deal between AMD and Intel now. At least from Sandy Bridge the MC has been integrated on the CPU. I don't recall for sure about Nehalem though.

So yes, definitely worth a shot to try voltage tweaks if necessary, but obviously I'd recommend first checking a guide or two if one does it the first time. (Same as with OCing processors - it's not really that hard to do, but always good to spend a bit checking out how it's done.)

(The example I mentioned myself having gone through was a C2D rig, so MC was on northbridge and such tweaks were not an option.)

Hi...

I've bought new 2x4GB RAM, I have already 2x4GB RAM.

Problem is that after pressing power button, BIOS goes in reset cycle for every 2 secs.

Normally there's no problem with my system. It works great with DCS for example.

My system is:

Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD4-B3 - BIOS already updated!

Intel Core i7-2600 @3.4GHz

650W PSU

Corsair Veng. 8GB @1600MHz. - currently installed RAM

Asus nVidia GTX560 DCU II TOP GDDR5 1GB

Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB SSD

Win7 Home Pr. x64

DxDiag is attached.

What did I do?

I reset all BIOS settings - no luck.

Removed BIOS battery - no luck.

I installed
only
new ones to make sure new RAM cards are OK, system worked properly. New modules are OK.

Removed all cards. Installed only 4GB old RAM, system works. Later installed 4GB
new
RAM, system fails! (BIOS starts to reset!)

What do you think about the problem? Anyone can help me?

Below > OLD

Hi in my experience many Performance RAM issues are related to Voltage @ 1.5V High Density RAM.

You might have to replace those modules, sell them on ebay.

Then replace all slots with the same type of RAM as best option try this ................ http://www.ramcity.com.au/upgrade/gigabyte/ga-z-series-motherboard/ga-z68x-ud4-b3/14577

RAMCITY do allot of bench tests and understand the industry very well, good support and service as well!

Cheers,

YEEEEEYYY!

Hello friends!

Today finally I've got my Corsair RAM modules from amazon.co.uk!

I've set back RAM frequency to 1333MHz. and installed them. They worked without any problem at first start, then set the freq. to 1600MHz. No any problem.

Now I use "Hardware Accel. Mode" enabled in softwares (like Chrome or Sony Vegas) - no any BSOD so far.

And it has nice performance with DCS World. Everything is perfect!

Thank you for all assistance and information guys.

They have the same frequency, same voltage, same timming, and same brand.

But they don't have the same version, They probably don't use the same chips.

Thanks! For the info.

Yes, we can say that. No same version, because main timings are the same but other (detail) timings are very different

because as you said, it's different chips.

Oh sorry, I said that for different brands, but as you stated, even same brands and same models may have some problems, you're right.

But so far there's no any problem with those 4 modules. I just checked sub-timings not versions. I'll check them...
