Flagrum Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 As per ... What else besides p. 68 (http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2151528&postcount=78) is missing in the current "unfinished" UH-1H Flight Manual? Can someone help me assemble a list with missing items? The manual of the Huey has still some weak points although the module is out of beta. Please use this thread to identify and collect issues with the manual(!) - like missing topics or parts that need more detailing, typos, etc. - so these points can be brought to BST's attention. Please note: we are talking about the manual only, not bugs or similar issues with the Huey itself.

SnowTiger Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I don't know about you folks, but I just learned about a Chapter that doesn't exist in My Huey Manual. Well, at least not as shown in a PDF file that someone posted (sorry, I didn't get that person's name or a URL to the forum page). That person posted a 9 page PDF of Chapter 11 "Performing Special Tasks" that describes how to create Sling Load Missions etc. The Chapter 11 in my manual is Emergency Procedures. And believe me, long before I ever posted anything about Sling Load training and missions, I did an extensive search throughout my manual as well as Ed Forums (only to learn today that a Huey Forum even exists !!!!). So is it just me ? Am I that confused ? (it is possible !!) Is there a more up-to-date manual available somewhere ? cichlidfan Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) The manual (last updated on 24-April-2014) included in the latest install has the Chapter 11 that you are missing. What manual are you using? EDIT: It would appear that the latest, yet still incomplete, version of the manual has been available/included since version 1.2.8. SnowTiger Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I only purchased the Huey about 1 month ago. I installed it using the Module Manager thingy in DCS World. Although I cannot remember to be sure, I believe I downloaded the Manual from DCS Website. So I have the manual that .. doesn't have THAT Chapter 11. At least I now have a PDF from someone (another thread/post) of just that Chapter. EDIT> Oddly, until today, I have not even been able to locate the folder where any of the Manuals short of DCS W's manual. I looked in practically every folder and sub folder in either Program Files/Eagle Dynamics and User/Saved Files. But with some extra digging, I only managed to find the Up-to-Date Manual a few minutes ago. Better late than never. I just wish some of these things could be found in a more common area or be more readily accessible. Maybe it's just me, but I think that was allot of work to find just this one set of Manuals. After digging through the Sub Directories, I have located all the manuals (most of which I have been using were older ones that I downloaded previously). Turns out I only have a Quick Start Guide for the Mi-8 .... but then I haven't looked in that Specific Forum either ... and haven't started flying it yet. I think Black Shark, Mustang and Huey will keep me busy for a while. PS> I have tried flying the Huey with and without Rudder Trim. It doesn't seem to matter once you are moving along well, but I can sure make a difference at slower speeds. Truth is however, that regardless which setting I have used, I find Hovering EXTREMELY Challenging in the Huey. I haven't even come close to picking up Cargo yet after 3 hours of hover practice. But then I only figured out how to do the Cargo Lifts TODAY !! Anyway .... thanks again for your help ... and patience. cichlidfan Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 All of the manuals have links in the Windows Start menu. SnowTiger Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Oddly, my Start Menu/Eagle Dynamics does NOT have any manuals short of DCS World, although that is where I would have expected to find them. Note too that there is a Ka-50 link in there, but that is v1 .. I purchased the BS 2 Upgrade so I also have a separate DCS: BlackShark 2 Sub Directory in my Program Files/Eagle Dynamics folder along with DCS World. I have the same in my Saved Games Folder (both World and BlackShark 2). And the fact is, I installed DCS World first and then everything else through DCS World as we are supposed to (at least that's my understanding). So I'm not too sure what's going on here. Luckily, after your prompt (previous post) I did locate all the manuals DEEP down in the Program Files/Eagle Dynamics sub-folders. SnowTiger Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 OOPS I see I forgot to include an Image of my Start Menu to show what I do have in Start/Eagle Dynamics. Ramsay Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 IMHO the manual could do with a height-velocity diagram for the Huey. Page 36 All helicopters carry an operator's manual that has an airspeed versus altitude chart similar to the one shown in Figure 3.19. Figure 3.19 is a general diagram scaled in height (m) and velocity (km/h). For the Huey's limits I need to refer to TM 55-1520-210-10, page 9-13 as Belsimteck seem to have forgotten to include a version of it. They should probably at least convert the units of the general diagram to that of Huey even if they can't include the real. i9 9900K @4.8GHz, 64GB DDR4, RTX4070 12GB, 1+2TB NVMe, 6+4TB HD, 4+1TB SSD, Winwing Orion 2 F-15EX Throttle + F-16EX Stick, TPR Pedals, TIR5, Win 11 Pro x64, Odyssey G93SC 5120X1440
