sprak74 Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Is there a way to turn of the mirror reflection completely? What I'm saying is have the mirror in the cockpit with no relection what so ever to increase fps.
lerxster Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Yes there is... Go to Options -> Cockpit turnoff mirrors :)

The cockpit looks kinda naked with out mirrors but the FPS hit is just not worth it even set to low.. I think there was a mod that removed the reflections but it doesn’t work with FC so back to square one. Anyone know how to do this? Cozmo. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Minimum effort, maximum satisfaction. Than it is no mirror anymore. Doesn't make sense to me.... Just switch them off ('no mirrors' under options) kind regards, Raven.... Weta43 Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Maybe what they need is ultra, ultra low resolution mirrors - only calulated for the one pixel in the middle of each mirror and just whatever colour was in the middle repeated evenly across the whole mirror. That way you'd still get the impression of mirrors - when you dive they're blue, when you climb they're green, and at night they're dark and there's only 1 pixel needs to be calculated per mirror. Cheers.

nscode Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Mirrors aren't there just so that female pilots could put on makeup, you know... ;) Btw, irl, you can rotate them so that they point at each other.. that's more realistic if it could be done that just removing reflection. Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Weta43 Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Except that though they can be pointed around at each other, how many pilots actually fly with them doing that - why would you - in real life the mirrors don't make the whole world move in a slide show. But they do have the mirrors, so all they want is a placeholder for the mirrors on machines not up to actually enabling them. Cheers.

Weta43 Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Ha - You learn something every day! Still - as a proportion of pilots how many are going into combat or even just flying their everyday missions with their mirrors facing each other? If your rig won't run them, then blank or single colour mirrors have to be a better representation than no mirrors at all Cheers.
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I D/L'ed a Mod a long time ago by Greb called Clean Mirrors. It might be the sort of thing you were looking for but I haven't ever got round to installing it myself yet. I don't which site I D/L'ed it from so I attach it here...Clean Mirrors.zip [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....

SilentBob Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Thanks Brit_Radar_Dude, :) but that Mod just cleans up the mirrors.. meaning? SB ** image removed by moderator ** System Specs: intel Core i7 2600K, nVidia GTX580 ,8GB x1333 MHz RAM ,Win 7 ultimate 64bit, LG FLATRON W24553v 24" Monitor. MSFF 2 stick (yeah, it sucks).
Cosmonaut Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 meaning? SB If you look at the mirrors they have .. well dirt on them. The clean mirror mod removes the dirt so the reflection is much more clear. Cozmo. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Minimum effort, maximum satisfaction. CDDS Tutorial Version 3. | Main Screen Mods.
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Oh well, that'll save me installing it then as I don't use mirrors anyway for the FPS hit. Good catch Cosmo.... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
Jason76 Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 There was another mod by Greb from waay back that allows for the mirrors in the cockpit with no reflection, and thus no fps loss; had no luck finding it online (and it wouldn't work with the newer versions of lock-on anyways so there's no point in getting it). I'd love to see a more updated version of that mod though.
