Multimonitor using eyefinty - FOV / Zoomed view

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

i recently started gaming and yesterday I bought a third Screen.

I am using this Setup:

Left: 22" - 1680x1050

Middle: 24" - 1920x1080

Right: 22" - 1680x1050

I configured my eyefinty with bretzel compensation, so I ended up with 5412 x 1080.

I changed my config to 1 monitor. When I go into the P51 I have this view:

Max Zoomed in:http://abload.de/image.php?img=scree...71551x1spz.jpg

Max Zoomed out: http://abload.de/image.php?img=scree...717498hs95.jpg

I think its not as it is supposed to :D Can anyone help?

Thanks!

1. Press Num5 to reset your view to the current default.

2. Adjust your view to what you want as the new default but do not use any snap view keys in the process!

Use Right Shift + Right Ctrl + NUM keys to move your view around, up/down and in/out until it suits you.

I think NUM / and * moves your view point in/out. (this is different from zoom!)

3. Press RALT+Num0 - your new default view should now be saved.

Test it by changing your view, then pressing Num5 - your view should return to your customised default!

Oh, and remember to hit NUM Enter to reset the zoom upon first entering an aircraft, after the wierd zooming out have finished. A small DCS quirk..

Thanks for the answer, this kinda solves my problem. I can finally adjust my seating a little more upwarts (so I can see the nose of the P51D). Your "manual" works just fine, but it does not fix what I bugs me.

I want to sit more in the back of the plane, so I can have a better view on the display - I think gaining more field of view (view) should work fine. You could say that I want to have more field of view than I have at the moment and the minmal FOV ("zooming in") is waaay tooo close. I think as you can see on my posted screenshots, that I can have such a small FOV that I cant literally see every letter on the plane.

But thanks anyway! :)

Did you move your viewpoint back, using Right Shift + Right Ctrl + NUM / and * ?

What I usually do is move the viewpoint back till I find I'm seated properly in the seat, and then I adjust the regular zoom or FOV in order to fit the dash on the screens.

Im using 40" tv screens, so using the zoom, I'm trying to get the instruments to appear natural or close to 1:1 in size. When I'm happy I hit RALT + NUM0 to save, and thats it.

I used to manually edit the view config files, but I find the above method accomplishes the same, only much faster and more intuitive.

Btw, with your different sized monitors and resolutions, it might be a good idea for you to look in to SoftTH. Don't you have some misalignment from the middle monitor to the side monitors?

Anyway, try searching for SoftTH, and a thread, started by PeterP I think, will give you the necessary info. Before you know it, you'll be adding a fourth screen :P

I tried to move it, but I would like to go much more further back. I am bound to an invisble "maximum".

I think increasing the maximum field of view (I would like to take my max. viewpoint beyond the limits the game gives me) would be my solution.

For comparison my field of view seems to be (just numbers!) between 20° and 90°. I would like it to have (as I have an real life) something between 45° and 150°

Hopefully you know what I mean. My posted screenshot are not some random places from the frontview to backview. These are the limits the game gives me!

Ah, ok, got it. There is a config line somewhere that adjusts the FOV limits, but I can't remember where, hopefully someone else will jump in here?

Won't that give you a very fisheye like view of the world? I'm guessing you dont have any headtracking?

No I have not.

The Fisheye effect may become a problem, but I dont wanna go that much further back. The position at 90° (the maximum I can go back/zoom out) is kind of manageable/playable but its tough to move the view to the instruments accurate.

So its just like I want to have "a little" more FOV/Zoom out...

Edit: I found in DCS World/Config/View some files and looked at them. As to some posts the max FOV should be changeable, but ingame I dont see any differece...

well it seems ED has yet changed the settings for MP.. I can edit the lua in the game and the FOV fixes the Singleplayer planes FOV but for Multiplayer the FOV Is wrong...

Here is the file you seek to change the FOV:

x:\users\Computername\SavedGames\DCS\Config\View

the VIEW Lua is where you can change the FOV.. but it does not work or apply the FOV I Set there in Multiplayer, where can I fix the FOV for MP FOV??

check the server u play on.

depending on the server settings, the session may or may not allow for modified config files...

try to test ur views/ fov in a plain jane server and not like something like the 104th, where u can not even get chase view

Hey Hannibal is appears that was the Problem for me.. We use a Private server for our MP Missions but use other peoples missions and it looks like the range mission I had put up last night had the Views not modified ot able to change..

Where would I look in the mission to change that setting about using modified config files??

Well perhaps it is a saetting when setting up a dedicated server?? I think when I changed the file I needed to reboot because after I did the same mission I was able to change the FOV like I set it too..

I was wrong in thinking ED Changed the setting but they have done it so many times before ;)
