KLR Rico Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I understand that this handle switches delivery of the tank's contents between either the fuel injectors or the supercharger intake. Currently the lever has no effect, are there plans to implement this in the future? i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS

Oesau Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) Currently to use the system (as a boost) you need to pull the handle, then switch the system on with the switch just to the right of the magneto control - whether this is the correct process or just a bug... Refer to pages 48-49 of the manual for switch position. The WM50 is a engine boost system with injects a water/methanol mixture into the intake charge of the engine (like a inter/after cooler of Allied aircraft engines) EDIT: as shown below by other posters (and IvanK) - I had this incorrect, the handle is for the aux fuel tank and not required for the MW-50 operation - thanks for the corrections. draken152 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 What are the benefits suppose to be? You can use MW50 tank as aditional fuel tank. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Building FW190D pit ,,To Dora with love" http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=132743
KLR Rico Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) IonicRipper, the handle is pulled up when the MW-50 tank is filled with fuel (for use as an internal auxiliary tank). (^sniped! :) ) I'd expect some sort of detrimental effects running MW-50 in the fuel feed, but the engine is happy to run with the pump engaged and the handle in either position. Edit: and indeed the manual specifically states: The MW-B4 Selector on the left console is used to set the MW 50 tank status. Please note that incorrectly setting this switch can have catastrophic results, by either feeding the water-methanol mixture into the fuel lines, or spraying aviation fuel into the supercharger. I get that the 190 is in beta, I just figured I'd bring it up because I hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere yet. Another thing I was wondering about is that the MW-50 pressure is pretty much always at 0.8 kg/cm^2, but the manual (and gauge markers) show the normal range to be 0.4 to 0.6, anything going on there? Fox One Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 In a D-9 technical manual they actually show the control as a 3 position MW50 - B4 - Closed, not as a 2 position T-handle like in DCS. See in the image below how the control appears to be placed about halfway between throttle and primer pump – in DCS it is slightly behind primer pump. Also see how next to it there is another control, #17 – this is for emergency jettisoning the auxiliary 115 liter tank content. This control and MW50 - B4 – Closed control were probably placed close together, and through the hole in the side panel pointed in the cockpit picture probably went the cables connecting both controls with their respective valves. draken152 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 (edited) My interpretation: Beta is almost finished, so was this considered by ED. I think Fox one is in this case right. Also in Lehrmittel cockpit layout is visible the position of this switch is in front of fuel pump switch not behind like in current DCS cockpit, also on earlier posted schematic is visible the switch shape… And please also consider the shape of Radio self-destruction button. The design of this button in Anton (see atached picture FW-190A-6 with broken cover of button) is known and there is no logical reason to change it to unsafe solution currently presented in DCS Dora cockpit… Edited November 3, 2014 by draken152 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Building FW190D pit ,,To Dora with love" http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=132743
