Flagrum Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 (edited) I am not sure if I am just missing something obvious or if this is indeed a bug: The manual, and also the available controller mappings, indicate that the mapping of the manual release button of the SPS-141 pod to release flares is identical with that of the ASO-2. I understand it that way, that although there are two pysically different buttons, one for the ASO-2 and a different one for the SPS-141, they are to be mapped to a single key combo or joystick button. So one can just press "flare release" at his HOTAS and no matter what pod is equipped, it will fire flares. But there are two problems: a) it doesn't work. The mapping is only functional for the ASO-2 - the button at the SPS-141 panel does not react to it (although it is working as such - if clicked with the mouse) b) what if I equip ASO-2 and SPS-141? Which will fire the flares? edit: and what about all other switches at the SPS-141 control panel ... afaik none of them are mappable? regarding b) ... while thinking about it ... both should fire. Let the pilot decide which pod is powered up and thus which will fire. Or let him set the SPS-141 to AUTO while he still can fire flares manually off the ASO-2... Edited September 22, 2014 by Flagrum
Fishbreath Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Pretty sure the SPS-141 and ASO-2 are an incompatible loadout, aren't they? I think the manual says so, although I haven't tried equipping both. Edit: do you have any information on how the SPS-141's jamming features work? I'm curious, and I haven't had a chance to test it out with someone else yet. And no, I haven't played with the jammer, yet.
scaflight Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Beware the lack of jammer utility. The summary in that thread, which I believe stands due to no update on the field from ED, is that SPS-141 in MP A2A will have tangible effects, whereas against any ADS it will not do anything. Tangentially related. :)
