Hello forum,

I hope this is the correct place for my question. I've noticed a strange behaviour in DCS regarding multiple keypresses/shortcuts. Lets assume we're using the keyboard to control a A10C. Now, if I open/close air brakes holding Shift + B / Ctrl + B DCS does not recognize additional key presses like e.g. Space for guns until I release Shif/Ctrl + B. Can someone confirm this behaviour? Is there a solution for this?

Especially when using my X52 + SST this is a big issue. Holding down a button which send a keystroke totally disable all ways to enter a additional command.

It seems to me, that this is might only be true for the A10?

I don't know for sure but it does seem that this behaviour might be expected. How could DCS know your intent is to fire the gun, i.e. press space while you are holding other keys. With so many keystroke options I can imagine it would be somewhat ambiguous.

edit, you may be right with the a10c as most other aircraft are only off/on so you don't need to hold down the keys for X length to retract the brakes so with other simpler aircraft you are not holding down the air brake key.

NO there is no way arround this for DCS or any other game. You might get a "SPACE" and a "B" recognized at the same time, in fact you can have quite a few keys recognized at the same time. But once you start adding modifier keys like Ctrl, Alt, Shift, etc, how is your PC to know if you are holding "Ctrl+b" and "Space" or "b" and "Ctrl+Space"?. The way I do it in TARGET software fo my Warthog (I use TARGET for the A-10C to give me extra functionality like trackir commands and TS3 PTT), is I carefully consider wich functions need to be held and wich are momentary and leave all that need to be held and DX buttons and program those inside DCS to the functions I want. This requires some thought as the Warthog is 2 controllers that are merged into one by TARGET and you go down from 64 DX buttons to 32.

Sounds intended to avoid conflicts and on a side note your average keyboard also has difficulties handling multiple simultaneous inputs.

Try holding both shift keys and writing THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPS RIGHT OVER THE LAZY DOG... worked well, eh?
