SPRD-99 problem

Hi,

as mentioned in the "DCS Mig-21 questions"-thread I sometimes experience a loud "Boom" and shuddering of the aircraft.

User xxJohnXX investigated and it seems this is linked to a problem with the SPRD-99 JATO rockets.

Please see this posting for Johns investigation and TacView file:

My track file with the "boom ´n shudder" at 06:42:45 is in this thread, it doesn´t let me attach it here again somehow...

Thanks,

The JATO bottles are designed to automatically jettison when used properly (hope I haven't confused this with something else). Didn't watch the track but look carefully and make sure they're not just falling off on their own... thus the boom and jolt.

Have had the same issue also, jettisoned them shortly after takeoff and a while later had an unexplained boom sound followed by the frame shuddering as described. Never seems to occur unless I have had the JATO's equipped.

Is there a black cloud also?

I found its happens "randomly" when turning off AFT, it might be associated with moving too fast the throttle or another unknown condition. Its not related with Jatto.

No, the SPRD-99s have to be jettisoned manually currently. However, this is not the problem that occurs. This shaking occurs quit a while after they have been jettisoned from the aircraft.

The plum of smoke is just the engine, where on rapid throttle movements the fuel is not burn't properly, and therefore crating a smoke trail. The AI does this on several other airframes as well.
