TWC_SLAG Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Here ae some screenshots I have made with the Dora. To me, the colors should be much better, and I am wondering what I need to do to improve them. Also, included are my system settings. What is with the aspect ratio? I keep trying to make it 16:9, but it doesn't work. Any help appreciated. badfinger Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit 1T Hard Drive ASUS P67 motherboard Intel i7 3.4ghz Processor GTX 570HD Graphics Card 8GB Ram Track IR5 50" LG LED 1920x1080 120hz MS FFB2 Stick CH Pedals Saitek Throttle/Prop/Mixture and Trim wheel Logitech G-13 Keypad TWC_SLAG Win 10 64 bit, 2T Hard Drive, 1T SSD, 500GB SSD, ASUS Prime Z390 MB, Intel i9 9900 Coffee Lake 3.1mhz CPU, ASUS 2070 Super GPU, 32gb DDR4 Ram, Track IR5, 32” Gigabyte curved monitor, TM Warthog HOTAS, CH Pedals, Voice Attack, hp Reverb G2.
Pikey Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Divide 16 by 9 and let us know what the answer is (give you a clue, you don't need to) :) Winter theme at sunset will look washed out because the sunlight reflects the white colours. Shine orange light at snow and tell me what colour you see? You can play with the HDR if you like or search this forum for mods such as sweetFX, however you will get more change by changing the time of the day and year. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *

Pikey, Don't know what HDR is (is it has obvious as 16/9), and am using SweetFX in Cliffs of Dover. Didn't know it could also be used in DCS. I'll give that a try. Why don't they just show 16:9, instead of screwing with our minds? :) Thanks, for the head-up badfinger TWC_SLAG Win 10 64 bit, 2T Hard Drive, 1T SSD, 500GB SSD, ASUS Prime Z390 MB, Intel i9 9900 Coffee Lake 3.1mhz CPU, ASUS 2070 Super GPU, 32gb DDR4 Ram, Track IR5, 32” Gigabyte curved monitor, TM Warthog HOTAS, CH Pedals, Voice Attack, hp Reverb G2.

Lizzard Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 most impact will have SweetFX and a decent Terrain Mod like the ones from Foxbeard, Rocky or Toby/PeterP..ah and Mustangs HDR Mod does also a great Job..So DCS and the modding community give a lot of room for improvement.. My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
Pikey Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Pikey, As I suspected, HDR is pretty obvious. badfinger So once these are sorted then try out SweetFX, it works pretty much without config cept I missed the split screen thing the first time. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=120718&highlight=sweetfx I'm not convinced it does anything extraordinary but it's something for you. Use JSGME to add it and take it off. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=98607 Also there are a few other mods from the mods section of the forum you might wish to look at. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
Boris Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 I highly recommend using Mustang's shader mod which you can find here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=113374 I did use sweetFX, but since I use Mustang's mod I've found I no longer need it. Art-J Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 (edited) Pikey, Why don't they just show 16:9, instead of screwing with our minds? :) badfinger But they do, at least on my computer :D. All popular aspects ratios are listed in "normal" way, eg. 4:3, 16:9, 16:10 etc. I wonder why it's displayed like that on some PCs and not on the others. I was happy with built-in HDR filters for some time (especially the "warm" one), but after a while I felt like the colours were a bit oversaturated after all, felt like flying over Barbieland. Switched back to "normal" and I've been happy ever since. The biggest improvement in visual attractiveness for me, however, was installing Mustang's "low & slow" ground texture pack and shaders. Boris, Thanks for the info. I downloaded the shader mod, and it is now better than before. But, I am comparing DCS graphics with IL2 COD, and they just don't compare. Maybe this EDGE thingy will bridge the gap. bagdinger TWC_SLAG Win 10 64 bit, 2T Hard Drive, 1T SSD, 500GB SSD, ASUS Prime Z390 MB, Intel i9 9900 Coffee Lake 3.1mhz CPU, ASUS 2070 Super GPU, 32gb DDR4 Ram, Track IR5, 32” Gigabyte curved monitor, TM Warthog HOTAS, CH Pedals, Voice Attack, hp Reverb G2.
Lizzard Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 But, I am comparing DCS graphics with IL2 COD, and they just don't compare. Nevermind..the actual DCS Engine is based on LockOn from 2004..o.k. it got some tweaks..but there is not much more that can be done...so no comparison to IL2...but EDGE will change some things:thumbup: My Specs: I don`t care..it is a Computer..a black one..
fastfreddie Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I can handle just a moderate improvement in graphics as long as they fix the spotting problems and update the damage models to vehicles/planes/etc.
