DCS asks for activation every time

Hi,

 

Every time I start DCS, it asks for MiG-21Bis activation. It says my key is no longer active etc, I retry, and then another window pops up, without the previous one disappears... Tho, the game still loads, but the activation windows doesnt disappears...

 

Any thoughts?

In case you upgraded hardware and did NOT deactivate modules before that this can happen.

You need to clear old activation information from registry and activate again.

Same thing here, absolutly nothing has changed on my end simply came back to play an it asked same thing for me an used up a install. Uninstalled the Mig til later.

Snap! Odd random demands for keys - A10c + P51d - nothing regular, mayber once or so every 20 starts... Just kills the request box, sometimes it reappears sometimes not.... but eventually all works fine...

The same for me - every day ask foractivation of MiG-21 due to significant hardware change, but I did not change anything. !:thumbdown:. Other modules work OK.

question about this - sometimes i have to go through and activate ALL my modules

and this last time the MiG-21 module wouldn't "take" - no answer i gave it made it work

 

eventually the problem just kinda went away i guess but i was sitting there thinking.. what if i'm trying to go online and there's a bunch of guys waiting for my narra-white-a** and i've got to tell them to hold on for a minute cuz DCS is being a pain right now - ??

Holding ctrl while loading from the main menu to the game can cause the prompts to come up. I knew someone who used it for TS press to talk that it was happening to all the time.

I cant easily look at the linked reg files on my phone but I believe they jsut delete the registry keys so you can reactivate like new. That same person I mentioned with the TS issue hit this one as well and this worked for him.

 

You can imagine he was a little upset with DCS activation by the end of that night.

 

Edit: I now see kazereal pointed at the wiki already, but can confirm it's good advice.

I am getting 30 of these for modules i do not have installed!!!!

I suppose I am resurrecting an old thread, but I just experienced the same problem as Alkaline in the opening post to this thread. Not sure what is causing this but it cost me a Mig-21 activation. No change in hardware for several months and have played most all the modules after I upgraded my graphics card and not a problem one. So does ED have any response to these issues and what may be the underlying cause? Would truly be a big disappointment to not be able to activate all my modules when EDGE and NTTR are released.

Tried your fix on the link you posted but I cannot open the link you gave for removing the Mig-21bis from the registry, get "Error 404". Any other thoughts? Thanks.
