Does anyone know if there are any JTAC training missions for the A10C anywhere? I don't want to head into the campaign with missiles going off in all directions, I just want to get a feel for some easy targets and to practice some Different JTAC types.

I would like to setup my own JTAC types in the editor if possible, but I'm afraid it might be to complicated to setup. I could be wrong though, so if someone could quickly brief me on how to set it up in the editor, then I could do that if there are no training missions. Thanks!

This is the path to where my missions reside.

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Missions\EN\Single

You can then select Mission/A10C when you start DCS A10C Warthog. Scroll to your new mission.

Hope this helps.

You could put it there, but my folder at that location holds my user generated saved missions.

I have just installed the mission and opened it in the editor to see how the JTAC works. When I click on the JTAC vehicle in the mission I see a white line coming from it and going to the enemy vehicle. I at first thought this was just a waypoint, but it is obvious that this is how it is spotting the enemy vehicle.

Does anyone know how to create that white line that is used to spot the enemy vehicle? I presume it isn't complicated, but I have no idea at this point. Thanks!

You can review this JTAC Sample mission to see how it works.

This mission has actually confused the hell out of me and left me not knowing if I am doing something totally wrong. The JTAC first tells me there is no mark and then places a red triangle on the map? Then it tells me to load maverick missiles yet gives me a laser code and all. It then asks when I want the target lasered - What? Am I suppose to use laser with mavericks? This mission has totally confused me just when I thought I was picking things up.

Can someone run this mission please and tell me if it's bugged? Why is the JTAC going on about laser when it asks me to use Mavericks? Thanks!

Maybe best to show you how this mission was created with some pictures.

First some background info.

The JTAC can mark targets with the laser, ir pointer (if at night), smoke or no mark at all. Selected in the mission editor. If the JTAC is EPLRS (Enhanced Position Location Reporting System) equipped then they will also send the red triangle to your targeting map to help you identify the target location.

The JTAC will select a weapon to use on the target based on the target type and what you have checked-in with. In the ME you can also specifically select the weapon to be used.

This mission is setup so you can play with the options and see how the different selections effect the JTAC dialogue. Try picking smoke, instead of laser. Try picking a specific weapon instead of auto. Just because the JTAC uses a laser to mark the target doesn't mean you always have to use a LGB. Actually with laser search in the TGP you can use that to identify the laser beam when you are not sure of what target is actually being marked.

We use that in one of our Tactical Training Qualification missions for example.

Look at the pictures below to see what I mean.

Hey

Just one more thing about that mission. When I put the coordinates in the CDU, UTM, that the JTAC gives me, I have found them to be way of the target area. Can you tell me if you are aware of this? I don't think I am doing anything wrong when I place them in the CDU, but just to make sure this is what I do.

On the CDU

1) Waypoint

2) Elevation

3) GG***** coordinates

4) select mission on the dial.

5) Select the waypoint number and name comes up GG***** same as the coordinates.

I have found it to be nowhere near the target and I don't even see a new square created? Thanks!

EricJ- Thanks, but I'm trying to learn the A10C, and not just trying to get the tank taken out. I have taken the tank out a number of times quite easily, but I just want a mission that will teach me all there is to know about the JTAC and inputing coordinates into the CDU. I mean, it took me long enough to learn all this, so I'm hoping it all works instead of been bugged and a total waste of time.

If i remove the 'FAC - Assign Group() - Action from the Advance WP Action Menu - and have only FAC activate!

What is the max. distance for the FAC unit to talk on targets?
