The radar is much easier to use. Much easier to find targets at close range.

Using radar, I couldn't get a lock with vertical scan (3), Boresight (4) or HMS (5) at all, however BVR worked just fine when I zoomed in on the HDD.

IRST doesn't seem to work at all. The IRST was always weaker than the MiG-29s in FC3 but now I can't find a target even when I'm right behind them and point the thing right at them.

Controls were a bit jumpy and autopilot wanted to go every which way but I'm liking the developments with this fine aircraft. :-)

From Wikipedia:

The Su-27 also has an OLS-27 infrared search and track (IRST) system in the nose just forward of the cockpit with an 80–100 km range. [3]

So the IRST should be even easier to use in DCS: World? :-p

Actual range for IRST varies widely depending on target power setting, aspect, and weather. You shouldn't be expecting head-on detection beyond some 20km.

Autopilot problem

As known, at low speed (below IAS about 560?) , stable level flight by autopilot is impossible , because left right fluctuation begins

High altitude crusing is impossible in this situation..

And at taking off and at low speed is this aircraft really likely to pitch up continuously?

Hmm, interesting. Yesterday I have been flying online and with the help of the data link (to find the approximate direction and range) I could get a lock on an enemy AWACS at a range of about 160km only using the IRST. At the same time the target seemed to be outside the range off the radar, as I had no luck even finding it with the radar.

I am not sure if this is a bug or not, but it seems quit optimistic to me. I can provide a track later on this evening if necessary.
