This is the 2nd time this has happened. All of my controls have reset to default. What's most heartbreaking about this is that I spent hours mapping and perfecting my FC3 mappings and now they're all gone.

Why? Why does this happen? What is my motivation to keep spending time and money on this game when something like this happens not once but twice? I'm ready to throw in the towel despite my love for this game. I can't even right now...

Don't you save the profile after you set it up?

You must first select a cell in the column for the controller that you want to save. Then the Save Profile button will work. You must save separate profiles for each controller and again for each aircraft.

Was there a recent update or something? Or is it just completely at random?

Thanks for the info. But it's going to be a long while before I even think of starting up DCS again. Right now I don't even want to think of all the hours in the controls menu that just went up in smoke...

I'll bookmark this thread for when I get the motivation back. Thanks again for the help...

You didn't change the USB port for the controller did you?

That will cause it to change the mappings. Every time I moved around my USB ports I went through this also. Finally wrote down where every connection went and don't have to deal with it now.

Check in your \Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\aircraft\Joystick, like \Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\F-15C, and see if the .diff files are still there. If they are, you can load them back by selecting the correct column in options and loading the old profile.

Over the years I have definitely seen control files get corrupted for no apparent reason, which is why saved files are critical. However, having it happen to all of them including multiple aircraft is most unusual. The only update that might have cause such an issue was the 1.2.8 update quite some time ago.

Changing USB ports can cause issues with some programs, not just DCS. If I move my touch screen to a different place in the USB tree, Windows will lose the configuration.

Oh my god! You're a hero! It worked!!

I guess now I'll go ahead and save the profiles like suggested earlier and back them up as well.

Thank you SO much.
