cichlidfan Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 The in game log hasn't tracked hours in specific aircraft for quite some time, so I doubt the information would be available from any source. Flagrum Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Now I am genuinely curious - how many different ways to take off in the Mustang are there? I am not a prop plane type of guy ... so for me it always came down to one way to do it: "accellerate until lift off ... perhaps adjust a bit to stay on the runway". I can do that with the Mustang, I can do that with the Dora. Neither looks pretty, but anyways ... which other ways of doing it I am missing out? But I guess, Tuco, you're right at least in one aspect: the Mustang allows the pilot more to fumble with the engine controls. But then, as a non-prop-guy, this sort of additional freedom is reduced for me to be just more ways to blow the engine ...
fastfreddie Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 There are plenty of people flying the Dora especially since the sales and although some had a hard time at the beginning with takeoffs/landings they figured it out. I still lose a tailwheel in landings sometimes and don't forget the Dora will probably still get some more adjustments.
heinzknocke Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Having watched a few 190 and 109 vids I notice that the pilot and the ground crew are not speaking german is this planned for the future ? Heinz
Nate--IRL-- Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Maybe, maybe not. AFAIK there was a concious decision that all speech in DCS reflect the Language the Sim is installed as. For instance I much preferred that the Russian radios were spoken in Russian in earlier DCS versions. There are changes to config files that will get you what you want (all the sound files in German are there) but I can't recall what the process is. PKH Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 A couple of suggestions after playing for a few days: - Input mapping for toggling gyro sight on/off. This needs two inputs currently. - Customizable Rate-of-change values for key bindings which control sliders or rotaries. Also custmizable acceleration for the value would be good. - A vertical and lateral g-force overlay to help training rudder input during maneuvers.
Echo38 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Folks, the P-51D does have the option of a pilot model in first-person, you know.
BitMaster Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) My son recently bought a game on Steam which was in pre-Alpha LoL he's 13 years old. I then explained him how SW is developed and for which audience Alpha versions are, hardcore simmers with a funded IT-Knowledge and some very very strong nerves so you can take all those unfinished and missing things. If you don't want EXACTLY THAT, stay away from ANY alpha or beta and maybe even stay away from RC ( Release Candidate ) too and wait for the release versions + 1 or 2 patches. You won't like anything else ..my son understood what he did and accepted many mishaps in the game, though he will now stay away from alphas and betas HAHA. Bit Back in the good old days, the rule of thumb was to never ever buy a version "V 1.0" but to wait for the first or second sub-version like "V 1.1" or "V 1.2" ;o) And what is going on at Steam with all theses Alphas - ridiculous. It is really getting out of hands, imo. Whenever I open up Steam and browse the front page for new toys, I always seem to find a couple and think, hey, great! But at a closer look, EVERY single of them is an "Early Access" release. Funny thing is, those early access games never really seem to mature. Or rather, it takes so long, I don't even bother anymore after 2-3 years ...
BitMaster Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 It's a matter of personal coaching and character if the Alpha ever makes it into the final version. There is a definitive risk in loosing your money this way and I would only buy Alpha's from Developers with a clean record as early money without a thing done for it has let many people/devs to lazyness and slowed down overall process ( not talking about ED and DCS Universe here ). Don't pay the ferryman until he brought you to the other side ! You should never forget this golden rule imho.
