fitness88 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 In the F-15c, why do you lose much of the HUD by it shifting outside the range of the HUD while turning hard. Thank you.

Lino_Germany Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I have a similar problem with the HUD. After one has turned a few times, the pitch scale remains either on te right or the left side of the HUD. I some cases it is not possible to read the landing steering cross / velocity vector good enough for a proper ILS landing. I´ve made some screenshots, so one can see what I mean: In addition to that, after taxiing and full stop at the runway, sometimes the speed scale does not return to zero. I´ve made a screeshot showing that problem, too: "Head Movement by G-Forces in Cockpit" is unchecked. Kind regards, Lino_Germany

I think that is working as intended(your aircraft is slipping left or right due to crosswind) Edited March 6, 2015 by flashben

-Vindicator- Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Assuming his third screenshot shows his jet standing still, why would wind cause his HUD to show a speed between 10 to 20 knots? Is the HUD measuring airflow even when the jet is standing still? (I have a similar issue when the jet is facing down the runway.) Thanks in advance!

If there is enough wind to register on the pitot it will show up on the hud. Air speed indicators are based on ram-air pressure and not like a car which is dependent on rotational gears. but the Pito system on the f15 cannot read speed from 0-20kts so when there is no longer enough ram air to register it will show 20kts. Same reason the Su27 shows 90kmph when stationary this is also why as you go higher in altitude your speed drop yet your ground speed either raises or stays the same. So you could be traveling 600kts over the ground but only showing an airspeed of 300kts Edited January 3, 2016 by pr1malr8ge For the WIN [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]If your desired effect on the target is making the pilot defecate his pants laughing then you can definitely achieve it with a launch like that.
